Well, they don't deserve to be in the title game. The best team doesn't always win the championship. Just gotta live with it.

Yes. 34-28 says that Alabama is not the best team in the nation.

28-28 with a second left at home, outgained by over 100 yards, three missed field goals and one from the 30 yard line not even attempted because the opposing team's kicker has totally lost it. And that gives you reason to believe your team is necessarily better overall?

There's a difference between winning the game and being the best team. The two don't always go hand in hand.

Have to play 60 mins.

The kicker is part of the TEAM. The best teams have the best players

Do we get to claim the two easy TD Throws that Marshall missed or is that only for the Bama kicker?

BTW, great football teams are good in all aspects of the game including Special Teams, kicking and coaching.

True. Alabama isn't bad at special teams though. Foster actually had quite a good season percentage on field goals going into the game. Him freezing could easily happen to any college player, so it's not like him having one bad game automatically means Bama's special teams game is shite.

Auburn played the game close enough to be able to take advantage of Bama's many mistakes. I don't necessarily think Saban was outcoached; Bama outgained AU by over 100 yards and had 3 (really, 4, if you include the no-kick from the 30 yard line) missed field goals, plus the same number of touchdowns as Auburn. How often do you lose a game like that? Not very often. Sometimes crazy things just happen. It's part of the sport.

Read my post below. Foster is not a bad kicker. He was reliable throughout the year going into the game. What happened to him could happen to anyone.

Don't exaggerate. First, there weren't two "missed TD throws." Second, McCarron missed at least one himself. TD throws and field goal kicks are not the same thing.

And even more to the point, Marshall has been missing passes all year long. He "missed" the pass in the Georgia game that won you the game.

Chronic, you do realize that Auburn is just a better team this year don't you? The faster you accept that, the better off you are going to be.

Its OK man. You can't be the best every year. Auburn is just a better team over all.

Auburn and Bama played even for near 60 minutes. Auburn won the game and therefore the claim to being the better team since they ended up with identical records before the SEC CCG.

Alabama and A&M played pretty near even for 60 minutes, and Alabama was the better team in spite of A&M's superior total yardage gained.

So, outgained at home by over 100 yards after trailing during the whole game = would win on a neutral field? Do you honestly think Auburn would beat Alabama on a neutral field two out of three times? Honestly? Deep down, you obviously don't.

Edit: if simple head-to-head meetings at home always determine who's better, then there is no best team in the SEC. After all, Auburn got walloped at LSU.

So anytime a team beats another team the winning team is automatically better than the losing team? No exceptions? We don't account for home-field advantage, flukes, injured players, or anything else in guessing who the overall better team is? So LSU hasn't won a legitimate national title since 1958?

All gained on one single missed assignment. 99 yard touch down pass

We don't need to play on a neutral field. We can play at Denny. We have done well there,

Auburn would beat Bama 3 out of 3 this year. They are just a better team

Yards gained do not mean anything. We gained more yards than Bama over the year. Does that mean we are better?

If the losing team was markedly better in terms of wins and losses for the balance of the year then there is an argument. You can debate anything frankly. But the assumption should be if two teams have similar credentials that the winning team is the better team.

Auburn definitely has a better claim as of right now. They have two very solid wins to point to in Bama and Missouri. Bama's best win is a win over a three loss team in LSU.

I'd say Bama played close enough and was able to take advantage of Auburn's many mistakes. Luckily Auburn won rather than almost giving the game away to alabama.

Auburn had one turnover. Alabama had almost double the penalty yardage and missed essentially four field goals. How does Auburn's one turnover outweigh 12 missed points and double penalty yardage?

I love how you're counting a 57 yard FG as missed points.

Also, we blocked one of the kicks. Was 09 UT better than 09 Bama since you had to block kicks to win?

Also, you can have all four of those FGs and we get our 2 wide open missed TD passes. We still come out ahead and go ahead of you in your precious yards gained stat. Or you could add in those 109 yards and we come out ahead anyway.

double penalty yardage?

Sorry your team is undisciplined.

Face it, you're a moron. At least you're doing a good job of playing one in this thread.

Agreed, yet they do not deserve to be in the BCSNC game since they did not take care of business.

Not saying they deserve to be in the title game, but they are. If OSU (or anyone else in a bcs conference besides LSU for that matter) had been undefeated in '11, Bama still would have been the best team in the nation but not playing in the game. Fate allowed them to prove it in '11, and not this year. Can anyone honestly disagree?
I am confused, the week of your loss your very own coach said FSU was the most complete team, so I took that as being the best. Now you are telling me as a fan that you do not have faith in what your coach say to the main media. No wonder he is shopping around, you all have pissed his wife off due to a lack of appreciation, don't believe his own words on who the best is, its a no wonder he is trying to go to work in Texas.
