Maybe, but what good is being the best without results to show for it?

Once again, Bama failed to win their own division during the regular season. 12 game sample size and they couldn't get the results to prove themselves 1 out of 7?

2011 has spoiled you guys. One undeserved do-over doesn't warrant another.

They are the best or at least the second best. Reminds me of all those years USC fell short of playing in the national championship during Pete Carroll's run. I thought they were the best team in the country in 2002, 2003 and 2006 and at least the second best team in the country in 2008 but they didn't play in the national championship game in any of those years. I now understand how much frustration USC fans felt losing to inferior teams while watching teams they are better than playing in the national championship game.

Saban was afraid yes afraid of OT against the barners.

LSU folks, where do y'all get all these idiots from? Your per capita rate on these fools far exceeds the national average.

Think it may be sarcasm. But knowing Bama they know they are the best. When they smear Okla all over the field, don't be surprised they claim the NC along with the AP. Thank Fla St for you guys not having to play Bama again. They get motivated when they get a second chance.

If you think one game proves one team is better than another, that's fine, but 2011 and every NFL season kind of disproves that notion.

It didn't really disprove anything. In 2011, it just proved that Bama could split games with LSU. However you lose, a loss is a loss.

Bama has a great team. But they didn't finish out strong in their last couple of games. They were sloppy in their 20-7 win against MSU and gave up 296 yards rushing against Auburn and got the L. On a neutral field, I think Auburn could beat them again. Bama showed no sign of slowing down that rushing attack. At home, I feel like Bama is really tough to beat though.

And they still would have won by two scores if Cade Foster wasn't so inept at kicking field goals.

Add to that, the 2011 Tide lost at home!

Tuscaloosa is just a step above College Station when it comes to "home field advantage".
Both Alabama and Texas A&M play better on the road.

bama might very well be the best team in the nation. on more than one occasion, new england patriots fans probably said the same thing too. but there's this little matter of winning it on the field....

Even with a 4 team playoff I say FSU would probably win it all.

The guy isn't an Alabama fan. I've never seen a collective effort like this to manufacture a melt.

Hes not a bama fan. Read the thread, people.

And there is no possible way you can "honestly" say that.

While I agree that Bama and FSU are the most talented teams in the nation, Alabama did not prove it on the field against Auburn. Saban wins with excellent defense and conservative offense that minimizes mistakes. Their Achilles Heal has been otherwise solid special teams in which their FG kicker inexplicably goes into a funk and of course a few big WTF plays like the run-back of that final FG attempt. But the real issue in that game was Bama's inability to stop Auburn's running game.

Conclusion: we have reached an era in college football (we say it with Cam Newton) in which excellent diverse offense trumps excellent defense. This should not be surprising since the offense has the advantage of choosing and overpowering at the point of attack unknown to the defense. As a result, conservative offense doesn't cut it against high powered offensive teams like Auburn. You must have your own high powered offense to keep pace and hope that your defense can make enough stops to win the game.
