All fun and games until Saban starts recruiting your grad players. Prepare thyself Kirby...??

Georgia doesn't fear recruiting battles with Saban or anyone else. Get over yourself.

So after all that, Saban just gave in? Next time just grant the transfer and don't be a dick about it, damn.

Embarrassing for Maurice.

Saban kept it professional. He came out looking like the bigger of the two sides.

Was Maurice really going to start at Bama? A true freshman started over him last season.
He was gonna be 1st string nickelback and maybe move to corner or safety every now and again, but he was the 1st string nickelback as Fitz was gonna move to the corner spot that Cyrus Jones held while Marlon was on the other side.

Translation: No, he wasn't going to start.

You must not have been following this saga closely. Saban comes out of this looking petty and weak.

Saban passed the buck to get rid of it.

Don't think he didn't have a convo with the Commish beforehand.

They will uphold the one year rule most likely.

Nah he caved. And he came off looking like a total dick in the process. Downvote all you want.

He was a starter in nickel packages, which we play 75% of the time. He won't play anymore at Georgia, who returns their entire secondary, than he would have at Alabama.

Hope it works out for him.

You always welcome SEC caliber DBs to the program especially those out of the blue but I don't know where he fits.

His moma was told by a coach on your staff he will be a starting corner. I hope he can win that position so everyone can benefit. If not his MOM is gonna want to meet with the coaches very soon.

He always looks like something to those that don't agree with him. He may know more about the situation than any of us.
I think he played it right. It was gonna be a media storm no matter what, because of the time of year and who the coach is.
Kid was held up what, 4 days?

Nick Saban would lobby for that rule to be changed if the roles were swapped.

Which is why he wins.

Does this mean Alabama doesn't pay recruits big money?

Or was the threat of snitching what made Saban cave in? I feel like momma Smith would have already snitched on Alabama if they were throwing big money around.

Glad his sweet little precious feelings are more important than rules established by the conference.

Saban didn't HAVE to release hm. It was Saban's choice to release him. What has this got to do with Smith's feelings or the rules? Smith asked for his release, per the rules. Saban said no per the rules and as is his right. Smith complained about it to the press...which is his right. Saban granted his release, which is allowable by the rules. No rules were skirted.

Do you think he will have a starting spot anywhere if he does make it to Georgia, because if you gonna go through this whole fiasco of leaving a starting position atleast go somewhere else where you can start also?

Probably a role very similar to what he had at Alabama.

UGA should be afraid of having a toxic presence of him and his mom around their program.

His "toxic" presence didn't hurt Alabama the last three years, so.....

I'm amazed at all the Bama fans that are so upset with this. Your deep in talent. It won't hurt you. You have a plug and play situation in Tuscaloosa right now.

Is it because he just wanted to leave? I don't get it. Calling him toxic? If he was toxic why didn't Saban deal with it last year? or the year before that?
