$500 bond and 3rd degree?
Did he verbally chastise her? What exactly did he do?
I'd expect a much bigger bond for a DV case, right? What's the definition of 3rd degree?
it's a misdemeanor.
(a) A person commits domestic violence in the third degree if the person commits the crime of assault in the third degree pursuant to Section 13A-6-22
Domestic violence in the third degree is a Class A misdemeanor, except the defendant shall serve a minimum term of imprisonment of 48 hours in a city or county jail or detention facility without consideration of reduction in time for any second or subsequent conviction under this subsection.
(a) A person commits the crime of assault in the third degree if:
(1) With intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes physical injury to any person; or
(2) He recklessly causes physical injury to another person; or
(3) With criminal negligence he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon or a dangerous instrument; or
(4) With intent to prevent a peace officer from performing a lawful duty, he causes physical injury to any person.
(b) Assault in the third degree is a Class A misdemeanor.

I would expect him to stay. He's never had any issues and this isn't a serious charge other than how people will make a judgement based on the title of the charge. If I understand, third degree is as little as the police being called over an argument. If he hit her, I hope he's gone.

Nice edit. Put up the one possibility that involves physical contact and leave out the NINE others that don't.
It could also be:
the crime of menacing pursuant to Section 13A-6-23;
the crime of reckless endangerment pursuant to Section 13A-6-24;
the crime of criminal coercion pursuant to Section 13A-6-25;
the crime of harassment pursuant to subsection (a) of Section 13A-11-8;
the crime of criminal surveillance pursuant to Section 13A-11-32;
the crime of harassing communications pursuant to subsection (b) of Section 13A-11-8;
the crime of criminal trespass in the third degree pursuant to Section 13A-7-4;
the crime of criminal mischief in the second or third degree pursuant to Sections 13A-7-22 and 13A-7-23;
or the crime of arson in the third degree pursuant to Section 13A-7-43;
It short, it could be anything from real physical violence to cussing her out on the phone.

Too late. He already did a hit and run:

He will stay at bammer and never miss a game if past history is any indication. Your midget coach is the biggest joke in college football on these issues. Leave it to a bammer tard to make jokes about somebody else given all the piece of shite thugs your own cesspool of a program has taken and kept

Don't forget about Lance Thompson. Seems like they may have been the ones holding Bama together. Now everything is completely falling apart

I wish these boys -- all players,regardless of team -- truly embraced the gift they have.
My HS coach had a saying that he'd tell us after practice every day,"fellas,you're special,not privileged." Its corny,but the point is clear.
Granted what young Jones did isn't some indicator that he's going to be a serial killer,but that little v-chip in his brain that says,"Cyrus,don't do this.Its wrong and its going to get splattered all over the media" clearly isn't working properly.
I hope he --and his teammates, learn from this and Jones gets his act together quickly.

I know he's already guilty by public opinion, but there's literally a myriad of possible reasons why he's was charged. Ryan Anderson was charge with the same thing for kicking a girlfriends car in an argument.

The REC is never low on funds. Sometimes, the junior members forget to send their checks.
