ESPN's play by play data only goes back to 2001, its impossible to confirm or deny the Nebraska thing (per someone who works at ESPN)

Talented and experienced OL coaches teach their players the tricks of the trade in how to disguise the holding, how to not get "Caught." Everybody holds. That's the difference between Pendry and Stud......

Ok, we've identified the problem. Now what do we do?

Bama fans are awesome. Believe if the Tigers went that long w/o getting a holding call I would admit we were getting some obvious favoritism but Bama fans refuse to acknowledge this.

LSU recent history, holding penalties called on opponents' offense, SEC games:

2009
Arkansas: 2
Ole Miss: 0
Alabama: 0
Auburn: 0
Florida: 0
Georgia: 1
Mississippi State: 1 (declined)
Vanderbilt: 0

2009 season total, in 8 SEC games: 4 (1 declined)

No time at the moment, but will edit later to add prior years. It really is ridiculous.

Maybe it's because LSU's defensive line wasn't very good last year.

I will say that there was no reason to hold our DEs last year. There were some questionable ones I remember the year before.

Three years ago was really really bad. Dorsey and Tyson were held all the time and calls were not made. (And I'm one of the more rational fans when it comes to penalties.)

You have to admit that LSU got screwed big time on that interception call last year.

The SEC office needs to be relocated to Cleveland Ohio with two regional offices. One in Ashville, North Carolina (between Tennessee and South Carolina) and the other in Atlanta, Texas (right between the Louisiana and Arkansas state line).

Remember - Bama fans are the classiest. If you don't believe it, they'll tell you so.

When is Bama not on probation?

The refs saying at Bryant Denny is:
Red Jersey in sight - hold onto flag real tight.
White Jersey in sight - throw flag as fast as light.

the announcers of the Nebraska-Florida beatdown said this during the broadcast. I've seen it on youtube recently.

This is an interesting topic. Personaly, I think SEC officials are afraid of Saban. This weekend will be interesting to see if the gumps get the same special treatment when Penn St. comes to play. - I'm thinking we might see a holding call on Bama this saturday.

Will it be called by SEC refs? Even as rich as their boosters are, they can't have every zebra in the herd on their payroll.

Man, I'm not hating on LSU. It's just an O-Lineman usually holds when he gets beaten. If you're not beat, there's no reason to hold.

How many sacks has bama given up over the same timespan? Techincally, even it's just one, then that discredits your theory that the o-line is "just too garsh darn good to get beat"

By the way, last year bama was sacked 20 times.

Don't sell the gump boosters short of doing so. This is the same group of boosters that gave $200,000 to a high school coach for a player.

Nice job!

I think that went right over your head. If offenses never get called for holding against your defense, then that means your defense is easy to block.

The refs save all the holding calls for us.

Good officiating

This deserves a good laugh.

I'm convinced that Referees have a quota of penalties they must call in a game, but this all seems to go out the window when Bama comes calling.

Bama fans and the players all have stickers "Official Supporter of the SEC Referee Fund." It's similar to those stickers that police departments use.

Thank You wise man. Thank You!

It just makes every rival feel better to think that:

#1 Bama's paying ALL the fricking refs

#2 ALL the fricking refs are "afraid" of Saban

#3 Bama has always fricking gotten away with MURDER

#4 Bama's OLinemen are cheating SOB's

It couldn't possibly have a damn thing to do with actually COACHING your players correctly, could it?

You LSU fans should try being their biggest rival. Go look at last year's penalty yardage and look at who was the most penalized and who's opponent was the least penalized.

Watch what you ask for Matt - Auburn had 97 penalties for 847 yards last year and their opponents had 59 penalties for 466 yards.

So is the conspiracy against the LSU Tigahs or the Auburn Tigahs? Which is it?

Be vocal about it. Call into sports talk shows, gameday signs, write, email and call the SEC office, blog about it, and make it known that this is happening. The numbers tell the story.

It's very unfair, yet very blatant.
