I'm laughing because NIU getting a BSC bid is a real possibility and that knocks OU out of a BCS game and into the CB.

Only one of those schools is doing the refusing...and it's not the one with 10 wins.

whether we fans want it or not, our administration is pushing to keep us out of the Cotton. They have worked very hard at expanding our brand this year and don't want us to be seen as a "Big 12" team.

Playing in the Cotton right now doesn't help that effort. We'd much rather play a new and different bowl that does not involve the Big 12. That will change in the future but it's just where we are this year.

This may have been mentioned before, but the texags.com guys interviewed the Cotton Bowl chairman Friday and asked the fairly direct question, "How would you respond officially to the rumors that Texas is trying hard to make sure they don't have to play A&M in the Cotton Bowl?" To which the Cotton Bowl chairman replied, "Well I'd say that those are private conversations."

A perfectly suitable reply, if true, would have been "That's a silly rumor that has no basis." Without intending to, the Cotton Bowl chairman confirmed that Texas is running scared.

Running from the frying pan into the fire with UGA or LSU. BTHO Texas, whoever!

Meh.

Would be a lot more convenient for both schools to flip it.

Georgia has played in 3 Cotton Bowls (to my surprise). Last time was in 1984 against #2 Texas. Georgia beat them 10-9.

If I remember correctly, it was one of 3 top 10 matchups in bowl games that year.

Something like that, I think that the curb stomping of Miami in that game was big for Les and LSU, and was the start of the decline for The U

Hmm, not a great bowl to watch if this is the case. Doesn't matter, A&M will probably crush them.

I want to say it was the only one outside of the BCS games but it was so long ago I might not be remembering it right.

+1.

If last year's team went up 30-7 on Northwestern before almost going full Sherman, this game might be like the Missouri game...only without the 29 points scored by the other team.

Game could go from A&M getting the 3rd best SEC bowl to the "No One Will Watch" Bowl.

Worst case is we get an easy win for #11 and finish the year in the top 5.

they certainly were but Northwestern, despite being a well coached team, simply lacks the athletes to even be an interesting matchup. It was bad last year and we had an interim coach and a relatively disinterested team.

That matchup would be bad for the Cap One bowl and bad for the SEC because people would find another game 5 minutes in.
