Recruiting wise it would hurt A&M somewhat but it would hurt Texas all the same if not worse. So I'm not sure if they really want to go that rout.

It would hurt anyone that recruits Houston. They'd land an occasion big name like LSU, Bama, A&M, & tu wanted, but mainly they would be beating out TTU, BU, TCU, & OSU for the majority of recruits.

Loftin pushed for Houston to replace A&M when we left the B12. I doubt it would hurt us all that much in recruiting b/c at the end of the day we are still in the SEC which will always be more desirable for guys that think they are NFL bound. It would hurt Baylor and Tech more than anything IMO.

However, if the B12 does take UH it will prove they've learned nothing about their small media footprint. While they did add TCU that was more of a combo of a panic move and DeLoss Dodds simultaneously hating UH and loving the hardcore BJ the TCU AD gave him. Dude drove down unanounced and sat outside DDs office for hours to talk him into TCU joining. Dodds hated UH b/c of a game Texas played in Houston where a bunch of sips got screwed out of tickets due to temporary seats not being properly set up. The sips had to go watch the game on a tv at the UH basketball arena. After that they were on DD's permanent shite list.

It would be great for the city so I hope it happens. Especially if they can get their basketball program back to national power status, I would probably root for them in basketball honestly against everyone but A&M.

I could see Hermann being an LSU candidate in a few years once Les is forced out IMO FWIW

in the next 2 years Les will have 20+ wins, a division title, SEC west title, and a playoff appearance. I doubt he gets pushed out

That's exactly why they want UH. It won't happen, though. If it did, it's hard to know if UH would cost us any recruits.

Have you looked at South Carolina's class right now? THey are last in the SEC and about 80th in the nation.

I don't think the Aggies have anything against Cooger High. The school that has the problem is tu. The sips really look down on them and I find it hard that they would allow a commuter school into the same conference.

I know they let them join the SWC but I don't think schools held veto powers back then.

I wish the Coogs good luck. They got a bad deal when the SWC broke up.

As for recruiting, I don't think A&M has or will ever lose a recruit in a head to head situation.

Neither would LSU.

They beat you for two five stars in this current class.

Two things:

1. Nothing has been signed yet

2. They hired people close to those recruits to get it done. You call that an exception to the rule.

UH would pull some players in Houston that everybody wants. That would hurt A&M a little, but probably hurt the Texas B12 schools more.

And the sheer comedy of watching the B12 try to reconstitute the SWC--ON PURPOSE--would be worth it.

can't see why they'd go Houston over UCF or BYU (even with the no-Sundays issue).

Travel and Tradition.

I guarantee more Big 12 fans would be more interested watching their team play Houston than it would UCF. And after the novelty wears off who really wants to go to Orlando to watch to watch their team play at UCF? Longhorns and Sooners have more pride than that. Fans of the Texas schools would rather make a day to trip to Houston to watch their team play a traditional in-state opponent.

But I agree, BYU>>>>>Houston
BYU fits in the Big 12 and adds way more than UCF or Houston

stronghorns don't want UH, otherwise it would have already been done.

No use for UH to get all worked up over something they will never get.

I'd be all for it.
Apart from two institutions, I'd back any Texas school to the SEC.
