I agree with you that Twitter is dangerous. It's just an opportunity for people to make mistakes in a public manner.
Those mistakes are usually entertaining though.
And I'm not belaboring the issue any more than you are. Maybe what's upsetting you is that the whole "racism" reaction thing appears to be overblown BS.

I don't think it was meant to be racist given the context.
However...
If a person who reports primarily via the internet forums and twitter, doesn't realize that using that term will be taken in a racist manner and used against you, then you really have no business owning a computer or being a reporter.
