Gave us one last VOLOLOLOLOL to cap off a five year tenure filled with them.

I normally only watch one game a year (the annual one run SEC Tourney loss), but I wonder if whoever we hire will go away from the bold strategy of only recruiting 5'10 soft tossing lefties who top out at 86.

I wouldn't mind that at all.

Serrano's biggest problem his first few years was his offensive style of play. Finally fixed that this year and the pitching went full retard.

He also recruited way too well. No reason to go after guys like Chris Betts or Ke'Bryan Hayes.

Didn't he come from California St Fullerton? Thought he would make UTK a contender

Ironically, those soft-tossing lefties are Vandy's kryptonite...

Should go after the Alabama State coach.

Yes but he played a pathetic small ball style his first four years and he signed way too many pros. Last year he had four signees taken in the first 100 picks of the draft.

If an SEC Team wanted to truly compete and exert themselves as a Baseball contender, they'd make Jim Schlossnagle an offer he couldn't refuse. Dude is the HC at TCU. But he was formerly Tulane's Asst HC and Recruiting Coordinator when Tulane beat LSU to go to Omaha back in 2001.

He wore our arse out last year in Omaha. He's a fantastic recruiter and evaluator and he has done a good job with the talent once he gets it.

It will take a coach with huge ballz to come and coach in this league, competition is fierce. Who would want to build a team from scratch facing USC, UF, Vandy, Mississippi st, LSU, ATM? ?? They'd be nuts but it will take a crazy coach to get you there

Yeah, he coached at cal st fullerton...tennessee baseball ain't cal st fullerton baseball though. He didn't have to build their program like tennessee is asking of him.

Probably my dream candidate at Alabama. I've joked about Corbin and McDonnell, but Schlossnagle may actually be realistic with Alabama's willingness to commit to baseball.

Isn't this the guy who actually let his team vote on who would be the starting pitcher last night?

He took UCI to the CWS and then did the same with CSF a few years later. He made the tourney 6x in 7 years at UCI & CSF. I don't think its the coach, I think its the school.

Schlossnagle would take a big offer to get. Not saying someone like Bama or Tennessee couldn't but they have committed well to baseball and have deeper booster pockets than most here probably realize.

He's an excellent coach though. Dan Heefner at DBU is another one who would be a great get if you're looking at Texas coaches

Also the competition.

Serrano was thought to be a home run hire at the time, and nobody would have argued against that given his track record.
The biggest issue is he had so many good players in his backyard at CSF he didn't really have to recruit. They lined up at the door.

At UT, the top notch recruits he landed decided to go pro instead of sign, and the ones he signed weren't top half SEC players outside of a few.
Also Vandy and SC made it tough to recruit against.
