In a press conference earlier in the wk, he said that the aggies only used 17 players on defense the whole game. And La. Tech ran over a 100 + plays in a 4 hr game. Laffed when commenting that several asked to come out for a breather & had to stay in the game as there was no one else to step up. I've read somewhere that LSU typically runs 22 defensive players in & out of a game. Is this a typical number for most teams?

Players were suspended and hurt. It isn't normal for us either.

We had four players in our two-deep that missed the La Tech game. Two were injured and two were suspended. Three of those players will be back for the LSU game.

Had 4 guys out for suspensions and injuries and it definitely had an effect. We held them to a 27-0 lead early and they caught up to us late.

Shouldn't happen again.

Can you guys tell me which players missed time and whether they were starters or backups?

LB Jenkins and S Matthews were suspended.
CB/S (he's started at both in various games) Everett was injured and did not play.
S Campbell also did not play due to injury but he hung up his cleats this week.

The first 3 should all be back this week. Snyder mentioned that was the least players he'd ever played in a game at any level and they had to go against 101 offensive snaps.

He also said those players were in for something like 100 snaps. And that was supposed to be a bye week.

CB Everett - Starter and probably our best overall DB
LB Jenkins - Starter, was out due to suspension
S - Matthews - Not a starter, but plays significant snaps... also is more of a run support safety so he will be important in this upcoming game
S - Campbell - Was a starter to begin the season, but recurring injuries have forced him to retire

I'm not saying it's excusable to get scored on that much - our defense isn't very good - but that game was over four hours long and finished after midnight against the spreadiest of hurry-up spread teams. That takes a toll. LSU has some bruising RBs, but we're better at run-stopping than we are at pass coverage. The pace of the game will be slower as well. Both of those things are to our advantage. Of course, if LSU shuts down our offense, it's all over. But our defense will consider this week easier than last even if we lose, if for no other reason than that they'll be able to catch their breath.

Jenkins and Everett back are huge. Arguably our best LB and definitely our best DB.
