You need to find a hotel/airbnb now if you are going. Uber to the game. Honestly just walk around and you will probably be invited into a tailgate, we enjoy meeting visitors. If you aren't literally trying to start problems, everyone will be extremely (probably overly ) friendly. Walk to Northgate after the game. Bar scene will depend on your age group, and there are plenty of bars to choose from. If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to go into a little more detail.

Well for fricks sake, y'all are the ones that forced that date. There's no reason to play on thanksgiving then if nobody wants to do it.

Hopefully more of them start moving to Austin instead of Houston. Would be nice. They're a scourge on our society.
Houston is swampy and nearby Louisiana. It's a natural spot for them. Austin is too far away and too dry. You guys are stuck with them. Enjoy.

They are the worst fricking drivers on planet earth. All of them drive the speed limit, it's absurd. Zero sense of urgency

Just don't attend a game there until late October. The stadium is a giant furnace and fans routinely get heat exhaustion.

Texas A&M was fun, and I went on Thanksgiving. Campus before the game was almost all older people cooking large thanksgiving meals. Crowd was largely dead for that game due to alot of turkey and not alot of alcohol.
Go to north campus the night before, thats what we did and we had a blast. Like I said, my gameday experience was different from other gamedays, but our A&M hosts did a good job of making sure we enjoyed ourselves. Go to the north campus after the game, also a fun time.
A&M fans are abnormally nice. Plenty of people offered us to come enjoy their thanksgiving spreads. We were well fed by the A&M fans. Even after the win while we were drinking at a bar going nuts watching replays of LF7 trucking Matthews, everyone was asking me if I had a great time and telling us great game. I am used to getting yelled at by fans when we do that, or yelling at fans when they do that in BR . It was refreshing, but part of me just wanted them to get mad at us. We are supposed to be forcing this into a rivalry, dammit!
Just a few things from my experience: Dixie chicken is great, don't do too many shots at sake bar or the shot bar, if for some reason you are there on a Wednesday (it was the night before the LSU game) then go to Rebel for half off beers.

Sake Bar is a treasure. I don't think they've cleaned the floors since 05 or so

Rented a house, so set there. I'm older, but will be there with my kids and we do like to have a good time. But, probably looking at tamer drinking holes, so any suggestions along that end are much appreciated.

Dixie Chicken is worth a stop but it's kind of a tourist trap on game weekends. Definitely more laid back though. Corner Bar has a ton of TVs if you want to watch other games, it will be really crowded but won't be that rowdy. Blackwater Draw Brewing and O Bannon's are two other good laid back places to go, but I would just walk around. Everything is close together in that area

Austin is no Mecca...but it beats the hell out of the strip malls and warehouses of college station

Ok great. Uber will be just fine then. I wouldn't frick with parking.
If you are looking for a bar before the game, check out the Dixie Chicken. You can give it a try after the game as well, but it will be packed.
For that age group I would give Corner Bar a shot. Go up to the patio on the 3rd floor. Should be a decent crowd, but not rowdy. Rebels will be crowded, but its huge, so you should still be able to find a good spot. Dudley's Draw should be the least crowded. Its right next to the chicken. I rarely went there, but I'd assume that would be the most tame.

The first question they are going to ask you at A&M is "Do you pitch or catch?".

Sorry but New Orleans is far better than anything Texas has to offer. I've been all over Texas. It's a shite state with oil money. Nothing special at all there. The old saying "everything is bigger in Texas".. The only thing bigger in Texas is their mouths.
