1939 is not debatable, as an 8-3 team has no basis claiming a title belonging to a team that went 11-0.

Here is the aggie paradox: their excuse for not winning a national title in the modern era of football is their roots as a male-only military-oriented institution...BUT...the only seasons the aggies have ever had that matter (the 1 AP title and the 2 retroactive titles claimed) happened as a male-only military-oriented institution.
As A&M's profile has expanded, its resources grew and its student body increased, A&M has done worse, when it should have done better.
Why? Because the more than media has developed and A&M's exposure increased, the more the world has seen what really goes on in College Station. Most elite players want nothing to do with that level of racism and a culture of perverse sexual violence.
