Bama's zone is a man/zone hybrid. Don't think we won't have CJ Mosley spy him like we did Tebow in 2009 with Ro McLain.

I'll always remember being on Texags during the first half of the SMU game and there were several threads dedicated to how we needed to bench Manziel and get Showers in there. A few posters really got taken to the woodshed later off of that.

The other factors were important as well. For instance we completely changed our OL blocking scheme and it took a while to get it together. Then it adjusted even more (as did our WR's) as it became clear just how good of a scrambler Johnny was and that it was a common occurrence for him to be running around in the backfield for 7 or 10 seconds.

This year the biggest adjustment will be losing so many experienced WR's and replacing them with more talented ones. If those guys don't know the routes and how to be in the right spot their size and speed won't matter much. Swope was our "zone buster" all year. He knew how to read the defense and find the soft spots. He also had no fear of getting hit over the middle which sadly has cost him his NFL career.

I have nothing to add to this thread other than the battle between Mike Evans and Fulton I believe was a fun one to watch. Both got their share and it was a helluva football battle.

And I think man-to-man is a near impossible scheme against JFFs scrambling. Sure mix it in, but don't rely on it.
