I go to church where the preacher and some of his staff came from Alabama.
The other day I was talking to him and smugly he referred to LSU as an "upstart" program and that the "natural way of things was working itself out" in regard to Bama being back on top.
I know he's a man of God, but I wanted to slug the fricker.

Bama's facilities are not head and shoulders above LSU's, as a matter of fact LSU's are slightly better than Bama's in certain areas. You have the "tradition" part down but as I've said before the rest of the conference has caught Bama long ago and in many cases passed Bama.

you should've, he probably isn't even really a "godly man" if he is saying stuff like that.

while I dont think tradition has as much to do these days with recruiting as it used to, who exactly in the SEC has caught up with us or passed us in tradition?

You should have. He was asking for it. God works in mysterious ways and may have used you to teach him a lesson.

It has been, but the last 6 years have really gone by fast. I am sure it must have been a long 6 years for you.

seriously?
Florida, LSU, UGA, AU ...
Bama's 13, or whatever it is today, NC is a figment of your imagination. That myth has been busted many, many years ago.

He made a bad decision when he left. The LSU position was not open when he decided to get back into college football. Had it been you can bet your arse he would have taken it. I don't think you can give the edge to either program as far as the best situation. Both have great facilities, both have great fans,(some delusional)both have captured 99% of rich in state talent. No edge either way
Which is exactly my point. Why would he leave Bama to make what would be, at best, a lateral move? I say "at best" because he'd have to rebuild the LSU program to fit his system. So, while it would eventually be a lateral move, you have to admit, that in the first year or two, it would be a step down from what he already has at Bama.

I don't agree with that. I think our talent level is equal at worst. I think he would pick right up without missing much of a beat.

LSU fans are displaying all the symptoms of the tragic jealous ex-girlfriend

It's not about talent level, it's about "fit". LSU definitely has one of the most talented rosters in the country, but it's not that simple. It's a difference of schemes, AND the difference of 3 years of "Saban Philosophy" being drilled into the minds of the players that he has at Bama.

Busted myth or not, no one has surpassed or caught up with us in the SEC in terms of tradition.
The following facts are representative of our standing in the SEC only:
21 SEC Championships (13 is the 2nd most)
Most AP National Championships
Most bowl appearances
Most bowl wins
Most 10 win seasons
Most overall wins
Most All-Americans
Most first team All-Americans
Most undefeated/un-tied seasons
And the ONLY team in the SEC with winning records against every single other SEC opponent - meaning no SEC team has a winning record against us.
No one in the SEC has even come close to surpassing any of those numbers.

I think Saban is an outstanding coach and regrets the move from LSU to Miami. I think that most human beings would move up to professional level football if given the chance and if it's what they thought they wanted.
However, the job at LSU was not available and he took the next best job available. Again, what would you do if you were in his shoes? To say one football program is better than the other is moot; both teams have NFL talent on them. For Saban, I think with all the negative adversity he has had to endure with the media and the move from LSU to Miami and to Alabama; he has become a better man under adverse conditions - he has maintained his integrety as a coach to the college level and hats need to be tipped to that. Amen.

I have to say that LSU fans are quite entertaining right now... they've been talking MAD shite about Saban for 3 years, and now they are all but begging for Saban to come back.
