It's very simple LSU is not of the same status as Alabama. The golden age of LSU football is fading fast. It only came around thanks to Saban. Traditionally speaking LSU is not football royalty. It was a good run but it is over.

Uhhhh...you might want to remove him if worrying about leaving every year bothers you.

Second, the reason he hasn't flirted with any other job is because he isn't going back to the NFL and there are no other jobs equal to Bama's in the college game.
ok you pretty much disproved your own point with this one.

You are an idiot if you would take Tuberville.
He has the same agent as Saban.

I think he burned too many bridges for that to even be discussed.
I would see him going to ND long before LSU.
Normally guys don't go back to where fans are burning effigies of them.

If we fired Miles and hired Tuberville, I would just ride around mowing yards on Saturdays for a new hobby and spending money.

this is true for your program as well. i do not care about how many titles in the past. I don't give a shite about tradition when it comes to winning NOW. 2 titles in the last 7 years is more than 99%of the programs can say including Bama. We will always own recruiting in louisiana and the level of talent it produces will always keep us as contenders you can book it. Until you win a modern time natl title your opionion is like an a-hole and everybody has one.

Tuberville would be a great hire for LSU. He would be a royal pain in the arse with all the in-state talent he would be able to bring in.

You are right. But i think Nick Saban entertains the idea of Penn State not Notre Dame.

I just think he knows he has a better situation staying at Bama than coming back to LSU where tons of people apparently hate him.

What could LSU possibly offer that Bama couldn't? Candy has went stale...

There are many reasons.
1. It would be a lateral move--or worse. Saban is in year 3 of the "process" right now. LSU has tons of talent, but, finally, it isn't talent that Saban recruited. He is familiar with our players and the system he has built here. Going to LSU would be like starting over again (albeit with more talent than he had when entering Bama or LSU the first time.)
2. Just because you would welcome him back with open arms does not mean he wants to come back. Burning him in effigy, making t-shirts cursing him, booing him like crazy when he returns to Tiger Stadium: you don't forget those things. He may have made a mistake leaving LSU, but your fans weren't exactly mature in their response (not saying I don't understand it, but that's just the way it is).
3. I'm sure he does have friends in Louisiana--just like he has friends in Alabama, Ohio, Michigan, and Florida. That argument doesn't really hold any water.
4. Finally, he would absolutely be hammered by the media. Maybe not in Louisiana, but in Alabama and everywhere else. And, believe it or not, Saban actually DOES care about his reputation, which is why many who know him believe he'll be at Alabama for a very long time.
Also, don't forget about Miles's buyout. It's doubtful that LSU could compete monetarily with Bama to begin with for Saban, but it's not even in the question if you have to pay Les $18 million to leave.

I agree...I thin it is the ONLY job he could take and net get hammered by the media. If he were to leave for Notre Dame or Penn State or some other job he would be crucified but LSU would be different.
He could use the old "Momma Alled" line and it would work.
I hope he wants to stay at BAMA but it wouldn't be a complete surprise to me if he went back to LSU.
I think in 2007, if Miles had gone to Michigan, Nick would have returned to BR. I think by now that he has probably taken root at Alabama. He owns this entire state and is like a God here so I do not see a reason he would want to leave.

fwiw: threads like these are some of my favorites. watching the "process" going on inside some people's minds is priceless.

can't even believe this is even being discussed.saban is arguably the best rebuilding coach in college football. in only his 2nd year,we're ranked #1 for 5 weeks, and in position to play for nc.3rd year,we are in contention again.why would he leave this? i see him retiring before he goes back to lsu.

This is like a "My girlfriend dumped me, maybe I can talk myself into believing she really still wants me" thread.

We will pay him just as much as you will. He has said the biggest mistake he made was leaving LSU. He has said he loves Louisiana and has many good friends there. His wife loves the place.
I do not believe he would be hammered by the media as some have said because it would be viewed almost like "coming home" - going back to the place he was happiest.
Our fans would take him back with open arms. Forget all of the stuff that was said and love him even more than we did when he was here before. Saban doesn't seem like the type to let stupid fans bother him either.
I understand he has made a life in bamaland and it is a very good possibility he would not leave.
I just do not understand all of the talk that there is no way he would ever even consider it.
Enlighten me, please.
Wishful thinking, my friend.
Saban probably did wish he'd never left LSU, once he decided he didn't like the NFL. However, now he's in an equally good situation. He's not going to make the same mistake twice.
What does LSU have that Bama doesn't? You're mistakenly assuming that because Nick said that he "loved LSU" that he means he loved it more than Bama. His comments were made to media members trying to stir up shite between him and LSU. They were not indicators that Saban would rather be there than where he is. Of course, since he dumped you, I'm sure you won't hear that.
