A look back at the recruiting strategy of Sumlin recently

Yeah yeah, recruiting board... But if you read this I think it's more relevant here.
I remember in the last 2-3 recruiting classes, Sumlin brought in some absurd (or was it?) number of wrs into his classes. I remember reading many comments basically along the lines of "they can't all play at once", or "you need more linemen".
I think it's pretty obvious what Sumlin was doing, and it's what butch jones does at tenn.
Bring in such an over abundance of talent at a position of need that you have the luxury in the next few years of basically making cuts. A normal team who signs 3-4 recievers a year has to rely on development heavily, however if you essentially have 20 guys in 2-3 classes fighting for the same 3-5 spots, you're promising yourself elite play in the future.
It's a bold strategy. It definately works, as far as quickly getting talent into a program at positions of need.
I know up until recently richt would basically offer four year scholarships.
What do you guys think about this practice? It certainly works, but is it unethical?
And just to be fair, les will process you too normally if you aren't contributing by your junior year.

I thought this was a known?
Why else would we recruit so many WR's? I'm not sure there is another logical answer.

Adding to the conversation, we were pretty light at WR when Sumlin first came in. Can't have an air raid with out people to catch the ball.
If some remember, we had our first back-up at QB playing WR because how light we were at the position with Sherman coaching. Said back-up QB would go on to receive a 100 million dollar contract from the Miami Dolphins.

So you're in agreement with the OP then?

This thread is what happens when fans have no hope for their own team.

To be fair, my initial response wasn't meant to be hostile towards you. It was aimed at anyone thinking that the case was any different than the point you made about our receivers.
Though, you seemed to take my post as a hostile one.
