Speaking of Tiger Stadium, can anyone explain why the upper decks aren't symmetrical? Always thought it was an odd design, just curious if anyone knows the history of those expansions.

there is no room with out removing north stadium drive, mikes cage and the PMAC ramps

The PMAC ramps are going to be removed in the near future opening up that area for gamedays.

Here's a copy of the Kyle Field RFP:

LINK

The RFP calls for a phased approach with all major construction taking place during the off-season so as to keep games at Kyle Field (instead of moving games 1-2 years offsite, such as to Houston).

They are pretty close to being symmetrical. In fact the old west side expansion was torn down so the decks could be joined if desired.

Concept art of Tiger Stadium with decks fully joined:

So ya'll are shooting for a completion date of NLT than 2016? That could give LSU and a couple of other schools time for a little "one-upmanship" in return.

there is always going to be "one-upmanship". wait till the SEC channel gets up and running and schools start collecting. it's going to be like cocaine bloodmoney in 80's Miami with buildings going up everywhere.

Are the powers that be still considering a name change for Tiger Stadium when the next expansion is complete?

I've seen the drawings and though I can't speak publicly about specific details it is being modeled after BDS with a lot of customization. Multi year project with a heavy emphasis on luxury seating and facade both inside and out. Virtually every problem currently with the stadium is being addressed, including the areas with poor sight lines. The official capacity will be up to a vote by the BoR but the momentum seems to be for 103,500 with standing room on concourses ala Cowboys Stadium.

It will truly be impressive but it will take a few years.

What is the point in expanding LSU's stadium when plenty of seats are available after half-time?

Never, ever heard of a name change being remotely considered. I'll believe that when I see it.

To you. Attendance is down across the nation. Expansions are only getting more expensive. You're talking about two expansions that haven't even went on line as of right now.
