All but Stallings are valid.
Stallings had a 28 game winning streak. People seriously are selling the man short. The only coach of the 90s definitely better than him was Spurrier.
Fulmer won 1 SECCG with Peyton Manning and never beat Spurrier with Manning.
Houston Nutt and Tuberville are not even worth debating.

Pat Dye was 0-3 vs Stallings

Saban, Meyer and Miles are all either from the great state of Ohio or coached at some point in Ohio. That is basically SEC north.

Only auburn would claim a Yankee newspaper

'd have spurrier ahead of Meyer if we're just talking SEC... And Fulmer ahead of stallings.
The amount of stupid on this website is simply amazing.
I am guessing tou are young. Spurrier destroyed the sec for years, completely revolutionized the league. One of the top five all time, not just since 1990. Did a heck of a job at usc as well, a place where nobody wins anything

Stallings better winning % than Fulmer or Miles
Stallings: 62-25 (.71264)
Miles: 140-53 (.72539)
Fulmer: 152-52 (.74510)
Stallings doesn't belong in the conversation anyway, because he only coached 7 seasons, the last one concluding two decades ago.

You're forgetting the other SEC title and the National Title.
He also won 10 games or more 9 out of his 16 seasons
I would think Fulmer would have to be on the list due to tenure, win % and total wins

Hatred for the man for exposing Bama's cheating ways aside, he could coach some football. Particularly in light of how UT has performed since his ouster.

You got a down vote. Now we know HDN posts on the Rant.

Just no.

I miss my Battle Captain. The game clearly passed him by but Fulmer was the only coach I knew for my first 14 years of following VOLS.

Saban, Meyer, and Spurrier are of course by far the top 3 and on everyone's list. You can make a case for either Meyer or Spurrier for 2/3.
The 4 and 5 spots are up for debate.
I think it's Stallings and Fulmer.
I never thought Miles was that great of a coach. Not a bad coach at all, but not a great one either.

Spurrier did all of his damage in the SEC. Hell of a ball player, hell of a coach, and yes, like was mentioned before, he brought the Gamecocks more success than they ever had. A couple of Ten or 11 win seasons which is damn good anywhere in the country, let alone South Carolina. Lou Holtz had mediocre success there in the late 1990's and early 2000's.

Rich Brooks. Damn I almost forgot the good job that guy did for U.K. a decade ago. He led them to Bowl wins over Clemson and FSU. And regular season wins over LSU and Louisville. That is damn impressive for BBN

Pretty easy to rank them (on just their SEC records)
The top 4 are pretty easy to peg:
1. Saban 166-34 (.830)
2. Spurrier 208-76 (.732)
3. Stallings 70-16-1 (.814)
4. Meyer 65-15 (.813)
Number 5 would be one of these from the "good but not great" pile, with Fulmer being my pick
Fulmer 152–52 (.745)
Miles 114-34 (.770)
tuberville 110-60 (.688)
Richt 145-51 (.740)

The modern SEC would never have happened without the ol' Ball Coach. Expansion, the huge TV contracts, stadium and facilities upgrades - his success at Gainesville raising the expectations around the league made it all happen.
Florida's reputation as a football power was closer to Kentucky's than it was to Alabama's prior to 1990. He transformed a moribund program hampered by major NCAA sanctions and a reputation for underachieving into a perennial championship contender by the time his first signing class were Seniors, and the rest of the schools in the Conference were forced to step up their games to try to catch up.
If Saban hadn't bombed in the NFL and ended up in Tuscaloosa, you could make a strong argument that Spurrier was tGOAT in the SEC. I was would still rate him above Meyer, because that shitheel would never have been interested in the Gator job if SOS hadn't made it the most attractive gig in the nation.

All good choices, I would think one would have to figure in that the SEC was much stronger in the second half of the time period than the first half relatively speaking.
