Back when I was on Facebook still, I was friends with Phillip Marshall somehow. He posted something on my timeline one day and one of my friends commented with that gif . There was no reply!

LSU finishing higher than 5th in the West is a stretch.

Then why did this expert picked Auburn to go 6-6?

There has never been an expert to correctly predict Auburn's season.

Terry Bowden 11-0 1st season
Gene Chizik 14-0 2nd season
Gus Malzhan 12-2 1st season

Do you think any experts predicted these seasons right?

It could be, it will be in Little Rock. The others could be the Aggies, Auburn, State or Ole Miss.

Rebs will light up some scoreboards but I don’t see how they win 10 games with that defense.

OM defense gonna be considerably better and it will certainly need to be.

Pittboss has 3 SEC wins during a covid season with absolutely 0 Spring Ball... and in a full season of prep with some better performance/players he wins only 5 games total...

And Mike Leach won 3 as well and returns the entire offense and a good bit of the defense plus some good WR and OL recruits and wins 0 this year? With Vandy and Kentucky from the East and Arky/Auburn being meh and LSU and OM being unknowns.

Leach is such a wildcard there’s no way to tell how we will be. We could end up a 9-3 team. But we won’t be 4-8. We win at least 6 games and 2 SEC wins

most of the time when a team returns what Auburn returns it equals a good season.

QB - check even if average
RB - check
OL - 4 of 5 starters return
TE - All starters return
WR -

On defense Auburn returns about 80% of its tacklers from last season and virtually the entire back 8 returns.

Both OC and DC coached in the SEC last year.

I just feel like with any team not named Auburn returning all this production would put them near the top of most preseason predictions in the division, but since its Auburn, lets be lazy and say 6-6.

lets not mention how Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miss State, and Arky have 1 combined win over Auburn in the last 3 years.

Are they really shite, or just poorly coached?

I think its the latter because Auburn didnt go after not one offseason OLineman in the portal.

We have a staff that can develop now, Harsin took a OL full of 3 stars at Boise and they had over 600 yds of offense vs FSU in 2019. They put up more yds than Clemson....

I'm not disagreeing with your statement but this isn't a good example since that was a terrible defense.

Absolutely but for Boise to do them worse than Clemson says something, at least in the teaching/development part. FSU still had a few studs from the Jimbo regime, while Boise had all 3 stars on the OL.

That would be one hell of a season!

If Ole Miss went 10-2 in Lane's early tenure, that would be the story of the year.

Who knows? Hamm was the best OL we had last year. I think Brahms has potential, but he hasn't lived up to his 4* billing (going back to Gus's failure to develop the OL). Keiondre Jones is talented, but again, no development by the previous staff.

Again, who knows? It is very possible Harsin, Bobo, and Friend have a plan for the OL, but I don't think one off season is enough time to rectify the lack of development and coaching scars leftover from Gus's O.

That was Harsin's 6th season at BSU. That was also against a Willie Taggart coached FSU team that finished 6-7.

I am optimistic about Harsin, but I am not optimistic about this season.

And although I am optimistic about Harsin, I don't know if an SEC West schedule + Georgia every season will allow him to win enough to be around long enough to get his processes and methods in place.

New year and different teams. What happened last was just last year. Arkansas isn't going to sneak on any teams this year and so I would happy to take 5-7 this year.

*a talented Willie Taggart team, poorly coached but talented.

Gus was in his 7th season when he lost to a UT team that hadnt won a game in the SEC in like 3 years prior, with more talent.

This current OL is on its 3rd coach in as many years, i think its safe to say a lot of our issues were scheme related.

Not especially. A total of 5 guys got drafted off that team in the 2020/2021 drafts and only 2 guys got drafted in the Top 3 rounds (Cam Akers and Asante Samuel). They had no QB and a miserable OL. They went to OT with ULM the next week.

They were a pretty standard 6-6/7-5 P5 team.
