I think it will be good honestly. They don't just sell out games for crAppy St. I think this move will excite the fanbase Hell I am really excited. Couple that will some good regional rivarlies like GAy State and it will get many people interested.

I am in total agreement for the reasoning. Georgia needs to schedule like this. UF's philosophy has done far more for them than ours. What I don't like is the loss of a great series like Clemson and the ability for the once every 5-10 years game vs a great OOC opponent or neutral site game. I was looking forward to our Oregon series that we backed out of and I was pissed when Ohio State bitched out. Those were venues I'd love to have seen.

And while the playoffs will provide great match ups it's just not the same same as a home and home. But, this is what college football is becoming and we are obligated to beat the shite out of our little sisters in Atlanta. Can't have them growing bold without their annual wedgie around Thanksgiving

Being that I come from a long line of proud Panther alum I'd like to see them do well but gah damn they are awful and have zero support.

Well, I say that, but I think they had a game with around 30,000 ppl once

I guess so, this may help the fan base grab more of South GA. I just felt like GSU was more of a team that people rooted for in addition to another FBS team. I know a litany of UGA/GSU fans, GT/GSU fans and your handle even suggests you are a LSU/GSU fan. I know there are some of those die hard Eagles that are only eagles but I think they'll have to work to build up a devoted following to fill the expanded stadium

That triple option vs those teams is just gonna crush them.

You excited about the Sam Houston St coach? Had a buddy who played for GSU who wasn't sad to see Monken leave. Thought he was a good coach but an absolute a-hole of a human being

31K paid actual for that 1 game was like 20K.

The avg less the 2K acutal people with butts in the seats.

This is pretty true. I am an LSU and GSU fan. I graduated from Southern and love to see them do well.

Without the expansion they were filling the stadium. Just now all those people who would sit on the berms and grass will sit in the new upper deck.

I am excited he did well a SHS

Maybe he knew something the general fanbase didn't know because I never heard anything but Great things about Monken. I was sad to see him leave but hey who could blame him. More cash at Army.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Kennesaw ST addition as well. To be honest, I just don't know many South Georgians out the immediate Statesboro area that really think about Southern much. Far south, people tend to root for Valdosta in addition to the larger schools like UF, UGA, FSU, or AU.

I am surprised that Georgia State hasn't gotten a but more support. I guess the lack of a "campus" probably seriously hurts any student body camaraderie and again so many of the fans connected with it likely have rooting interests with bigger teams. They will need to be successful before they will start to pull fans, especially since they are competing against a high school games on Friday nights and bigger CFB teams on Saturday.

I like the fact that KSU is getting a football team.

KSU will dominate the SoCon in a few years. Espcially with Southern and crAPPY St gone.

Same could be said for school in Alabama like Troy. But they still pull quite a good crowd even though most of the state is Gumpers and Barners.

They were my first school before I transferred to UF.
When did they get that new stupid logo though?

Sad to see that but if GT is only a little a way you could go watch another terrible GA team play vs an opponent you have heard of

Which I feel makes up most of the fan base and what could possibly hold them back. Ya know what I am saying? Will fans of GSU give money back to their alma mater or use it for their favorite team/season tickets for their favorite team?

I honestly ask. I went to another school other than UGA my first year and while I tried to root for both it was impossible to root for two passionate FBS teams and ended up going to UGA my final years. Idk how it'll work in the future when GSU is a peer program (to a degree, at least) with other people favorite programs.

Maybe my friends were under selling it but they claimed the attendance wasn't great outside a few games a year but I'll take your word for it
quote:

That he did. Did SHS run the triple option? I know that's a bid to do there and the boosters pretty much require it

Agreed with all of that and he agreed he was a good coach but just an arse. Not like a bad person, possibly bad wording, just said he knew how to get under your skin and piss you off like no other and was very no bullshite. Pretty sure he respects him still but my buddy's brother is going to play in West Point and this guy basically intimated "good luck"

Same, I am excited to see what KSU can do. I also agree about GA State being a commuter school and that hurting school pride/devotion.

Hell, all the grads, students, and my family from there don't even do the GSU thing and root for both. They're all just fans of other teams and if GA State is on sportscenter they're like hell yea
quote:

Isn't as easy with that really and they want cash. We also have had 6 game home schedules before.

ETA: Korin nailed it. I bet it bugs the shite out of our AD that UGA has to work at getting 7 home games while programs like PSU or AU and etc get 8 home games at times. Hell, PSU gets 8 games almost every year

That too. I heard there was some talk about GA State buying the Ted and making that the home of their football team. That could be pretty cool but I don't see it happening.

Sure it does. Fact of the matter is UGA is 2-4 against Southern in Baseball with quite a few arse whoppins in there.

I think so. I went to the GSU/Tusculum game a couple of years ago and the stadium was PACKED. and Tusculum is a d2 school.

Its a spread TO from what I am told.
