If I counted correctly, that's 66.67% were Defensive Players. Most of which are starting or rotational players for their respective NFL teams as well.
I understand 9-6 now. I personally like how people hate that game. I absolutely LOVED it and my team lost. Big time hits and defensive scheming like a fricking boss throughout that whole game!

I'd have to search for the quote, but I believe Chavis said it took years off his life. It was like a constant chess match with Saban the entire game.

He was? I thought he did what Jacob Coker is doing now and transferred after that game (in 2012 sometime?).

The thing about that game is that both teams averaged around 38 ppg otherwise.

Even the BCSNCG had it a 15-0 game until mid way through the 4th quarter. LSU's defense held their own in that one too. Alabama's defense was just better than LSU's offense by a greater margin than LSU's defense was better than Alabama's offense in the second game.

Still amazing.

wonder if there are any seniors this year that were freshman during that game that played and will be drafted after this year.

ETA: Rasco and Hilliard for LSU both played and could be added to this list. I'll see if any for Bama

ETAA: Bama has several seniors who may or may not have played in that game. Maybe one of ya'll can give us an idea if any of these guys are good enough to be drafted: Fowler, Jones, Shepherd, Ivory, Perry, Dickson, Vogler, Depriest, White, and Williams.

Remember all the fuss on 1/9 from the announcers @ JLee and ZMett on the sidelines? He was on the team, but didn't see any playing time b/c JJ/JL were our "guys"....at the time

Agree with you here. 1/9 was a great defensive battle. Your O was way better than ours. Wish we could have held up to at least not give up that TD in the 4th. 8 quarters with no TD's would have been cool. So much talent on those 2 teams.

Yeah the LSU D/ST really helped elevate the O, constantly giving them good field position, forcing 3 and outs keeping the opposing D on the field etc.

Also, Brad Wing should always be remembered for his performance in that game. I'm trying to dig up stats but he was simply phenomenal. Constantly pinning Alabama deep in their own territory. He had a 73-yard punt (inb4wire)

Agreed. Also, LSU Defense and/or Special Teams never made the big play early (or late) that sparked the whole team like it did against Arkansas and Georgia the previous two games, and to some extent the whole year....

Two uncreative, average to below average offenses going up against good defenses. Boring game.

Some people are never entertained. All you had to do was stay up a little later and watch the Pac - 12 if you wanted to see some points. I think Oregon beat USC like 112 - 97 or something like that.

This list doesn't include the redshirt freshman from that game, right?

I dont think Gus or Rhett would've made it through 9-6 with out soiling the front and back of their khakis.

Great game. Sucked at the time to lose it, but since we earned a rematch and won it, I'm OK with it now.

Most fans didn't make it through the game without falling asleep.
