And AU 04 was miles better than their 03 team.

that 03 team started in disarray, Petrino had left the previous season and they had position coaches trying to duplicate it, AU was shut out again the next week by Ga. Tech also, talent wise it was better than the O4 team.

2003 USC hands down. Bama looked very mediocre that year against any team with a pulse that had good QB play. They couldn't get off the field against Mettenberger because he kept converting third downs and making big plays against them. Matt Leinart was Mettenberger on steroids. Throw in Reggie Bush, Lendale White and Mike Williams and I don't see how Bama beats that team.

In case people forgot those 03/04 USC teams were LOADED with NFL talent.

Did USC ever play a defense as good and as talented as Bama?

We went 5-7 that year and didn't make a bowl in 2003. Pick a different year

Auburn 2004 actually had more guys make it past their rookie contract on NFL teams and was superior at every position in relation to NFL talent except D-line. It was close but a small edge could be given to USCw.

Hype gets you drafted, talent allows you to stay in the NFL.

LSU was #2 in both final polls. USC was #1 in one poll and Oklahoma in the other.

USC #1 in both polls.

Oh how I have missed the days of Chris Perry. Luckily, good things are around the corner.

2004 USC was one of the greatest teams of all time...just behind 1995 Nebraska, and maybe a few others.

No. They beat 3 ranked teams all year. They may be one of the most talented but you can't be one of the best TEAMS ever when you struggled to beat unranked va tech, unranked stanford, unranked Oregon Staten and unranked ucla.

Auburn doesn't have the national title next to their name.

As if getting VOTED into a game proves they are a better team.

This! Hardly beating a 6-6 Stanford team. They were known for beating Oklahoma soundly in the national championship

2012 Bama wins that game and its not close.

2003 USC got lucky, not having to face LSU. LSU defense would have put Leinhart in the hospital.

bama. Their only loss was to a team that before the NCG coudl have made a legit claim to be one of the 10ish best football teams ever.

yeah no

I thought LSU team had one of the best regular season resumes in recent memory.

That's just me, though.
I think there may be some confusion here; 2012 Bama is NOT the team that won the rematch game with LSU. That was 2011.

2012- the team that lost to A&M? I don't know, that team may have beat Notre Dame for the title, but it seemed like it was out of sorts for most of the year.

I might have to go with USC in this particular matchup.

2003 USC. They crushed everybody other than their one hiccup game. Shame the coaches had to vote the winner of the other game #1. SC was clearly the best team that year.
