is the only SEC Champion to have 3 losses in conference. This, of course doesn't mean they were weak by any means. It just means how crazy good the SEC was that year with Tennessee and Florida as national championship contenders.

Question is, will there be a 2 or 3 loss SEC Champion again or in the next 10 years? Or is the SEC here to stay to continue their dominance?

I find it fascinating that the SEC Champion lately is either undefeated or has one loss considering top to bottom how competitive the league is, and how diverse the conference is, even with Alabama winning most of the national titles as of late.

That was the watershed year after which the SEC realized they needed to grease it with a timely call here and there during the season for the team/s that have the best chance to make it to a title game. LSU kept UT out of the BCS CG. They can't let that happen again. 2009 was the culmination of that when Florida and Bama got calls throughout the season to assure an undefeated SEC champion.

I completely agree with what the sonuvapitcher guy said. 2009 was a disgrace, especially on UF's end. Conference looses way too much money not getting an undefeated or one loss team to the conference championship.

Bama got alot more calls than normal that year as well. Not called penalty on Cody against Tennessee and the PP7 Int not being awarded come to mind. It was very clear the SEC's agenda that year.

And the blatant offensive holding on Cooper at LSU that allowed the winning TD. That year was infuriating as an LSU fan.

I will say that the PP7 call was bullshite but what no call on Cody are you talking about? Taking his helmet off? We recovered the ball. The game would've still been over.

Besides the pp7 call we didn't get any more breaks with refs than anyone else.

Yes... Had Florida beaten Bama it would've happened last season.

Florida always playing FSU and having LSU as their constant makes their schedule the toughest in the East pretty often... With everyone required to play a power 5 team now the SECe will probably continue to send teams to ATL with 3 losses for the foreseeable future... The East has to win the SEC again eventually.

Wrong. Mizzou and Georgia did not have 3 losses when they played in the SECCG from 2011-2014

Florida was unusually weak

Maybe, still seemed pretty shady at the time. Where there is smoke, there is fire. There was alot of smoke that year.

"Kiffin's comments went beyond the game's final play, going so far as to suggest that league officials are protecting unblemished records of Florida and Alabama, teams currently ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation.

The Vols coach said referees were a reason he chose to run the clock down before attempting Daniel Lincoln's 44-yard field goal that Cody blocked.

"You run another play and you throw an interception or they throw another flag on us," Kiffin said. "I wasn't going to let the refs lose the game for us there, you know, some magical flag appear."

Tennessee was penalized 8 times for 68 yards in the game, Alabama once for 10 yards.

Kiffin added that "I'm sure we'll get one of those letters that mean nothing, that (Arkansas coach) Bobby (Petrino) got last week, but Florida and Alabama live on."

The SEC reprimanded Petrino for comments critical of officiating after Arkansas' 24-20 loss Oct. 17 at Florida. The league had previously announced a suspension of the crew that worked the Razorbacks-Gators game.

The SEC also announced Monday that Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen had been reprimanded for his comments following the Bulldogs' loss to Florida on Saturday."

Okay you posted an article that didn't list any specific instances, just a whiny head coach complaining that his team lost.

Or maybe there were just a lot of conspiracy theorists complaining about the kind of missed calls that happen every season. In Bama's case, neither the helmet thing with Cody nor the Peterson interception would have altered the result.

The article states Kiffin complained of officials against Bama, Petrino complained against Florida, officials were reprimanded for the Arky/Florida game, and Mullen complained against Florida. Obviously LSU complained about the Florida and Bama games. That doesnt happen every year.

How do you know this? Typical Bama pussies thinking they are unbeatable.

I first noticed this in 06.

Auburn was chosen by the conference to be the NC hope that year, LSU was bent over by the refs multiple times that game.

Later it was apparent Auburn was not the one (wish they had seen it earlier) and the conference moved on to UF. Who received phantom calls

You think we have the SECN right now bringing in all these millions without that streak from 06-12?

In hindsight it never does. So if LSU got the ball back within one score in the 4th quarter it's not different than y'all scoring on that same drive to go up two scores?

That's how easy it is to manipulate a game

Bama played 2 games all year that were one score games - The Tennessee game (won by 2) and the AU game (won by 5). Every other game was a multi-score victory, so I'm not sure how "more calls than normal" mattered. It's not like it made a difference in any game.

quote:

Not called penalty on Cody against Tennessee

Time expired and ball had been recovered by Bama. If a penalty was called, it would have been enforced against the Bama O (like a block in back on a punt or kickoff). Wouldn't have given ball back to Tennessee and moved them closer for another FG attempt.

quote:

the PP7 Int not being awarded come to mind

He caught that ball. No doubt. That said, you were still losing by 6 at the time and no guarantee you would have gone down and gotten a TD (not like your O was just lighting it up that day. You were held to 250 yards and were outgained by Bama by about 200 yards).
