You make a good point and it is one that I can respect. I had not thought about it that way, but I guess that you are right, although I usually try to actually talk about the teams and their quality and stay away from "Alabama Sucks" type threads. But, I can get pretty sarcastic at times. That is what I am backing away from.

As for when this all started with me and Alabama, it was when Saban went there. Whatever unhappiness that I had with Saban himself was quickly superceded by my interaction with Bama fans who began to tell me that he made LSU and that now LSU was going to fall apart and that all of LSU's success after him was because of Saban's players and "we got your coach!!!" and stuff like that. It caused me to detest the whole fanbase, which was probably misguided. But, this is football and not real life, so I wasn't that introspective about it. Plus, it was all a lot of fun and pretty good natured.

My only point now is simply that LSU can't back it up anymore, so I don't have much to say. So, maybe you are right. Maybe we all behave like idiots when we are ragging other teams/fanbases and trying to "one up" them. Maybe I have realized that it is all pretty stupid - or now that LSU really does stink, it isn't any fun anymore. Whatever.

Like I said, this is football "fandom" and not real life, so it really doesn't matter that much.

I know where you're coming from. When Alabama was in the middle of a six game losing streak to Auburn, the only Auburn fans I noticed were the obnoxious ones. I actually grew to pretty much hate that fan base during that time. I'd like to think that I've risen above that because I've grown and matured but the truth is that it's probably just because Bama is a whole lot better than they were then.
