What? New Orleans is by far known as the best place to host a big event. You can walk everywhere. There's a reason countless super bowls and ncaa championships were hosted there.

Did anyone argue that New Orleans wasn't great at it? They are.

You can walk everywhere in Atlanta for events too. New Orleans is better because of the culture and makeup of the city, but Atlanta is such a good place for events for the exact same reasons you just named. And if you can't walk you can easily streetcar or train.

Also, who's got a more accessible airport than ATL?

That's nice, but for many people one of the biggest draws is that for most fans in the conference it's a relatively easy drive. Houston could have the greatest, most accessible airport in the world and it wouldn't matter to me because I don't want to have to drop several hundred on plane tickets. New Orleans is about at the outer limit for lots of fans who want to drive. For most of the schools in the conference...UA, AU, UF, UGA, USCe, UT, VU (not that it matters), OM, UK, and MSU...Atlanta is less than a six hour drive

No chance we devote 3 cities in a 6 city rotation to the newest additions to the conference.

And we're sure as hell not gonna take it to a city where the vast majority of fans have to fly to.

I would add this is where the airport issue makes the difference. Atlanta is a hub airport with lots of flights and choices. New Orleans is a non hub airport with limited options.

Things like the Super Bowl where airline trips can be planned well in advance are far different from SEC CCG's and Final Fours where airline plans must be made in under a week. In such instances, NOLA is not a great choice. There is a big difference between spending a week or 2 in NOLA for pleasure and spending a few days for a sporting event.

Who cares. I like the SECCG where it is. Does anyone really have a problem with it? It's not as though it gives Georgia some homefield advantage (as evidenced by their spotty record there).

A response thread about this same topic urging people to stop making new threads about it?

Paradoxical, Cheese, paradoxical.

With ATL building a new dome too, the SECCG will not be moving any time soon.

I wonder how the good citizens of Atlanta feel about subsidizing a billion-and-a-half-dollar stadium. Probably not super good.

The citizens of Atlanta are on the hook for $200,000,000. The rest will be paid for by the hotel/motel tax, just like Turner Field, the Ga. Dome, Phillips Arena etc. Atlanta has never took a hit on a new sports facility like some other cities have, the economy of Atlanta & N. Ga. is too diverse & vibrant.

1.4 Billion reasons SEC CCG will not move so quit making threads.
387 million for Foundations and Structure
322 million for Soft Costs and Contingencies
281 million for Buildings Systems
119 million for Interior Construction
100 million for General Conditions and Fees
80 million for Exterior Skin
62 million for Sitework
49 million for Construction Requirements

Unless Houston, Saint Louis, Nashville, New Orleans, or Birmingham are dropping dimes in the neighborhood of 1.5 Billion to 2.0 Billion to pay for a seat at the table then accept the fact the SCE CCG is not moving.

Hotlanta, it's an SEC town ... with an ACC school in the middle. Gotta love it.

Guess what - Charlotte is an SEC town as well.

No major city in the South is safe from our charms.

Charlotte should be where there SEC basketball tourney is played every year.

I'd rather out of town people continue to not know that there are 20+ in-town neighborhoods in Atlanta that are fun, cultured and historical.

You especially don't want A&M fans to ruin your nice things. My momma lives in VA. Highland. Awesome neighborhood. The dome is a pos, but the new stadium will be the best venue in the country.

Not to mention everything else surrounding it and the fact that Atlanta is the boss at hosting elite level sporting events.

New Orleans does it better

10 Superbowls
The Sugar Bowl> The Peach Bowl

Superdome> Georgia Dome

More than enough hotels to host the SEC championship crowd, more than enough flights into the city.

How do you figure? I know the SEC Network has offices there, and it is fairly close to USC, but I have never gotten an SEC vibe from Charlotte in my limited time there.

Lots of Tobacco Road alum as well as transplants from all over.

Nashville is more fun to visit than Charlotte and makes a lot more sense geographically. Any particular reason this move would make sense (other than it is a new market)?

people saying atlanta is a shithole and yet want it to move to houston? that makes sense. I mean, i do hate atlanta, but its better than houston. i can understand if you live in college station you might think houston is ok, but come on. also, how much sense does it make to move a game somewhere that is west of every team in the conference except 1 and south of every team except 1 (about level with gainsville really)? answer, it doesnt.
