Houston is never getting the game. That's the good news.

Yeah and what's the nice part of Atlanta? Buckhead? I've been there and it's very meh.

It's not really Buckhead, but Atlantic Station is nicer than anything in Houston or Dallas.

New Orleans is the king of hosting big sporting events.

Everything is withing walking distance. All media love when we host Super Bowls.

But I can see why Atlanta gets the game because of the geography as well as being a large city pretty much in the middle of all of us.

Aggy isn't close but they will never have to deal with driving to Atlanta for a championship game anyway.

Agree 100%. New Orleans is the best convention/sports event town in America.

The only argument for moving the SECCG around is to expand the brand, esp if it is played in Texas. Having it in Houston would further solidify the town as an SEC city.

As of now Cowboys Stadium is the best facility for a major football game, even though they screwed up the SB ironically.

That said, Atlanta is where the SECCG has always been and it makes plenty of sense to keep it there. The SEC doesn't have to work as hard to expand its brand because the product is so good. The SEC is big on tradition.

If simply chasing dollars and exposure is the goal though they should rotate the game to multiple venues.

It is okay to be in a shithole like it is now then Houston's NRG is more than capable of hosting it. And when it comes to large events Houston is about as good as it gets. The city gets final fours, super bowls, has its own shitty bowl game, all star games, etc.

at you suggesting Houston or anywhere in Texas for that matter.

Well this is definitely not true at all, but I appreciate your defense of our fair city nonetheless.

I'm sure the SEC will eventually make some overtures to Texas, just not sure what they'll be

Look, I love ATL but the new stadium looks ridiculous. What makes you think it's going to be so awesome?

See my second post for links to hotel rooms and airport data.

Atlanta has more hotel rooms
Atlanta has the bigger airport
Atlanta has the best interstate access to the schools in the conference

I know some texans want to believe everything is bigger in Texas, but the facts on these 2 points suggest otherwise.

It's going to be awesome and ridiculous. Unless it is botched it'll be the coolest stadium in the country for a few years. It's going to age like shite, but whatever.

Because it is going to have every newfangled thing available to a stadium and is going to cost $1.4B. I'm sure some new stadium will eclipse it in 3 years but when it is built it will be the best.

Also the layout is going to be really good. The outside is insane looking but the actual inside looks really good.

From the outside it looks weird. I imagine the inside will be incredible.

I wonder how the good citizens of Atlanta feel about subsidizing a billion-and-a-half-dollar stadium. Probably not super good.
