Got it...

LSU is the team declaring that using "stadium capacity", including concessions staff, instead of "seating capacity" is now the new norm in the SEC, not me. If this is the case, provide us with multiple examples of other SEC teams who fudge their numbers to the tune of 4-5,000 extra seats that do not exist.

5,000?

So you think this expansion only added about 4800 to the actual capacity?

Prior capacity was 92,542. This expansion added "60 "Tiger Den" suites, 3,000 club seats and 1,500 general public seats."

So somewhere around 5,500-6,000 seats were added. Which would put Tiger stadium at around 98,000 seats.

Those are old figures. When the expansion was announced, this rendering was shown:

It now looks like this:

Seems they decided to go ahead and fill in the areas previously left vacant for expansion under the video screens and at each end of the rows of suites...

They also added an extra row of general seating up top...

...the 3D seating chart had the upper deck containing only 5 rows. LSU decided to throw in an extra row and just put that barrier up behind it.

Tiger Tracks had an LSU rep on say that the SEZ addition would have 66 suites. Knowing each suite has a capacity of 23 (including 4 standing room only spaces) that's 1,518 total suite capacity. There's now around 3,500 club seats and 2,000 general seats (mainly for visitors), plus somewhere around 1,500 standing room only (SRO) tickets available. The total comes to around 8,518.

The old capacity was 92,542. Adding 8,518 gives a figure of 101,060.

quote:

“We are listing a stadium capacity now rather than seating capacity, which is in line with what other schools in the SEC are doing,” LSU associate athletic director for tickets operations Brian Broussard said. “The stadium capacity takes into account ancillary groups, such as media, game management and concessions staff.”

Using the estimate of 101,060, 102,321 - 101,060 comes to 1,261 for the number of "media, game management and concessions staff.” Not really a lot.

quote:

I'm sorry but the guy selling corndogs does not count like LSU is trying to do.

Alabama itself uses the term "Official Capacity" rather than "Seating Capacity".

Bryant-Denny Stadium

So it looks like you shot yourself in the foot..again. You have bad habit of doing that.

If LSU wants to claim 102,000 then the rest of us will tack on another 5k as well. Either way its pretty embarrassing.

Those are old numbers which were released in '11. We still don't have exact numbers as LSU has yet to release them. However, the most recent numbers were 66-68 suites, each with a capacity of 23 people. ~3,500 club seats, ~1,500 visitor seats, and ~1,500 in the SRO sections.

That puts the stadium over 100,000, which was the plan all along. Personally, I didn't care what the final number was as long as it was over 100K and not ~99,800 as originally proposed.

This is the same guy that once claimed no one thought New Orleans was a great, or even a good place to live.

quote:

Outside of NOLA, NOLA is only seen as a place to party for a weekend, not as a great or even good place to live.

Old Metairie

This was right after it was announced that NOLA was America's fastest-growing city.

Forbes: New Orleans is America's fastest-growing city

So take that into consideration when you read his posts. He's constantly shooting himself in the foot. He never takes the time to check beforehand.

Don't think Texas wants to be outdone by A&M. It's only a matter of time before they have plans for more seats, suites in their stadium

They have already been outdone. There is absolutely nothing they can do now to regain stature other than shutting down the LHN and getting down on their knees to beg to join the SEC.

Sumlin is giving midget Charlie a severe beating in Texas recruiting.

One of the better comebacks I have seen in a while. I stand corrected. So the numbers are fudged a little, but not nearly as bad as I thought. I was reading incorrect information for my analysis. I was looking for an explanation for the missing numbers and you provided one. Well done.

I don't claim 15 national titles FWIW and I wish UA did not. Claiming the fake 2 or 3 tarnishes the legit ones IMO.

Even more amusing is that he thinks 106k is what folks would claim. Guess he doesn't know that UT hosted 108k for a Florida game at Neyland before we downsized due to the renovations. The Gators never complained about the seat size.
