Says who?So why do so many schools have reserve funds?
UGA had 70+ million in reserves.

Hell,AU bragged about how much their reserve fund helped them in hiring Will Muschamp.

Why was UT so concerned about their reserve fund being so low?

So you're not allowed to put your profits back into athletics?

That's exactly the point. Put it back into athletics.

Have extra for what reason? If you have anything left over, make something up to spend it on.

why have extra

Would if you run a deficit the following year? You can still reinvest in capitol projects and still have revenue squirreled away.

You think schools just let that extra revenue just sit in the bank?

You think contributions and scholarship endowmemts are spent the same year as the contribution is made?

You don't really want high profits in institutional financials. It's better to spend the majority of revenue. The only reason reserve funds might have been mentioned in the will Muschamp hiring, although I don't recall it being touted, would have been because of the reported loss the prior year.

This isn't apple we are talking about here, reserve cash does nothing for an athletic department.

None of those numbers are even accurate.

Every time a&m doesn't top a revenue list. It sucks when reality hits. Pledging over time=\= revenue for the year

Do what?So why do schools have them?Plus the UGA AA has also made money investing those reserves in the market.

Go back to the Will Muschamp hiring. One of the 1st thing Jacobs mentioned in the press conference was the AU reserve fund and the ability that it gave him to hire quality assistant coaches.

Of course, having a lot of money doesn't automatically translate to on-field success. Ask Texas, which can't get out of its own way on the football field in recent years.

Well, do nothing was probably too strong, having a larger sum of reserve cash does nothing

Again, AU's mention of that was probably more in regards to the previous years deficit.

Missouri has twice as many people in their state as us, and their University has been getting free pub nationwide recently. Surely they are above little Ole Arky saw

Texas A&M is 10th in the SEC.

Wait, I thought this was final conference standings in football every year.

Auburn will not lose money this year, nor did they lose money last year.

So what you're telling me is that Texas does in fact have more money than Alabama.

Duly noted.

That may change after the Opecers bankrupt Texas earl come the first of the year.
