Keep dreaming.

Everyone has seen through your coach's false safety issues - so why should it come up again.

Safety Rules are implemented by the Rules Committee by their majority. General Rule changes have to be voted upon by the entire Convention.

I haven't heard that before. Can you link something on this?

AUBURN, Ala. -- In the end, the behind the scenes maneuvering, the influence peddling and even the waving of death certificates was to no avail.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and supporters of hurry-up, no-huddle offenses convincingly won this debate.
The proposed 10-second rule, which would have slowed down popular hurry-up, no-huddle offenses, was withdrawn by the NCAA Football Rules Committee a day before it was due to be voted on by the Playing Oversight Panel.

Nobody sane thought it had any chance of passing anyway.

It's just getting the ball rolling on the subject though.

If college football continues it's march towards arena video game football expect to see actual things happen in the future.

Which excludes half of your fanbase.

Some gump retards were still guaranteeing it would pass today. Because... saban and stuff...

Next year when Saban brings it back up people will laugh twice as hard. Also everyone will be ready so he can't backdoor it in again without a debate. Plus Saban and Bret have shown they aren't very good with coming up with evidence to support their claims.

The more things change the less likely the rule will ever pass. The number of people for the change isn't even at 20%.

the HUNH crowd have been wanting data that backs up the claim that the HUNH leads to increased injuries right?

well increasing the number of faked injuries to slow down play will give them the data they want. Then bert and saban can take the data to the ncaa and show them the HUNH leads to more injuries. check mate

Is this the avenue you woudl have chosen to 'get the ball rolling?'

Obviously, I hope that if there is data to suggest it's dangerous the public perception of how this handled doesn't play into a vote that may ultimately come, but I highly doubt that eveyone can just turn their back and consider this proposed rule fresh next year without remembering the absurdity of trying to slip it in this year.

Im glad. Dont care about the rule. Either give yourself the same advantage as its in the rules or dont. Simple fix.Not saying that i totally disagree with everything Saban said. Just dont hide behind the whole safety thing.
Officials dictating pace is imo the best way to go about it, however, there needs to be some studies done about the fast pace offense and get a true bearing of its impact on the game as a whole.

It just did. HUNH is a safer way to play.

Do not want. But unfortunately it will continue and probably increase in proportion to increase of HUNH. Won't be surprised if they end up trying to legislate that in some way, although it will be difficult to do fairly.

I'm surprised there weren't coaches who played the "I believe the safety concerns should be investigated but until then, the rule should not be in place" approach

Easy way to choose both sides of the issue and get front page publicity
