Maybe, but how is that relevant to the discussion being had here?

Because the poster he was responding to made the comment about Texas going in a different direction as a backhanded compliment before adding "good get"

Cheap.

Not really, it's most likely true. Do you think he would take Bama over Texas if offered both?

I am not a fan of our AD, but I think he was genius in that situation. He was proactive. He made Pearl an offer he couldn't refuse. You can spin that any way you like.

Who cares? I don't.

So, is Alabama hiring him or not?

I think a little competition within the state of Alabama in basketball would raise the level of play just like in football.

It would depend.

I think there's likely a some mixture of truth in both stances.

The truth is - all other things remaining equal - the Texas job is a much better job at this point than Alabama.

However, if Texas wasn't willing to come close to matching Alabama's offer in guaranteed money and incentives, I could see him being more willing to leave for Alabama.

Correct. Expecting to know more - one way or another - some time today.

Bama people are confident. WSU people are confident he's staying. Texas people don't seem to care much about it either way.

Gregg Marshall always does this shite every off season. If he does go to Bama, I'm not sure how good he will be able to recruit, he is a bit of an a-hole and not much personality either. He kind of reminds me of someone like Petrino.

CBS take

quote:

Alabama athletic director Bill Battle will meet with Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall on Monday to discuss the Crimson Tide's opening, a source told CBSSports.com.

The meeting will take place in Wichita, the source said. CBSSports.com reported last week that Alabama's administration is determined, one way or another, to make a big hire to replace Anthony Grant in response to Auburn employing Bruce Pearl last March, and Marshall is essentially alone atop the wish-list.

Alabama cannot offer Marshall great basketball tradition, school officials understand. But one source said they plan to pitch "piles of money, an athletic department with a culture of winning and every resource he needs to compete with anybody on a national level."

It's possible football coach Nick Saban could eventually be involved in what will be high-profile recruitment. "Alabama is gonna go big," one source said.

The Tuscaloosa News is also reporting the meeting between Battle and Marshall. Sources have told CBSSports.com Alabama's offer will be in excess of $3 million per year and that the school could present a package approaching six years and $20-plus million.

Seriously I love the knocks people are hunting for about Marshall as this becomes more a possibility.

It makes the dumbasses that post on here regularly easier to ignore.

Saban is an a-hole too. Grant was nice. Bama needs an a-hole basketball coach.

I've been following Marshall for years, our dumb arse AD hired Darrin Horn over him, because of Marshall's arrogance.
