Not surprised. But the first major candidate to officially throw in his hat.

Thoughts?

Ted Cruz belongs as a firebrand Senator, not a presidential candidate. I'm ultra conservative and I wouldn't vote for him, he is un-electable and isn't presidential.

He is a male Sarah Palin; the best place for him is stoking the base for money/votes, but not as the front man.

Rand Paul has announced his announcement date sometime in April. So he's officially unofficial until official in April or something like that.

The next president will be owned by the same people that owned the last one.

I mean, there is no chance I would vote for him, but nonetheless, he is a major candidate that is worthy of discussion.

I believe he will snag a lot of the Tea Party votes in the primary, and go down guns blazing, taking multiple candidates with him (perhaps some who might actually win)

He's a clown, and having him in the clown show Republican primaries is going to be awesome.

If his campaign gains steam, which I hope it won't, he will catapult Bush into the nomination. Walker is currently the only candidate that has the potential to pull both the conservative base, and the more moderate, 'I-want-liberals-to-like-me' wing of the GOP. Bush is despised by conservatives, and Cruz has no chance.

Are you able to see the world in any other terms than conservative/liberal?

I had high hopes for the Tea Party until they glommed on to the social issues. It's disappointing that fiscal issues can't be debated separately. Cruz is a no go.

He's a far more serious candidate and person than Palin. But I share your viewpoint on him.

I'm likely voting Libertarian anyway, so it doesn't really matter for my personal vote. However, if a candidate from the 2-party system MUST be in the White House, I'd prefer it be a Republican; at least that was I have a glimmer of hope that I won't be taxed to all hell and back.
