Thats just great.I had hoped it wouldnt be so crowded when I chose those dates. The one day I spent on Tybee it seemed more like a laid back community than a college spring break party town.
It's early enough to probably get out of it. See if you can find a place in Charleston, about the same driving distance from Chattanooga area.
You won't need an out-of-state fishing license either, as long as you are on the bank or pier. Only need license for boat fishing. That was when I lived there. Double check the regulations obviously.
There's a pier on Folly Beach. There's a pier on Isle of Palms (IOP). Good surf fishing on Sullivan's Island which is the most "laid back" Island. Another cool thing about Sullivan's Island is that public access is every 100 yards or so, easier to spread out from any crowd that you want to. The south side of the island has jetties and borders the harbor, excellent surf fishing around the old fort. The northern end of the island is Breach Inlet, some smaller jetties, and good fishing there too.
Charleston's version of the "back river pier" is the old Pitt St Bridge in the Old Village. I can tell you all about that too, if you end up changing your plans.

It's early enough to probably get out of it.

Most houses are basically the same .. only things to look for are beachfront vs beach walk & location on the main stretch or located on the sound.. should be plenty to choose from on VRBO or Esisto Reality.. stay away from the condos on the golf course

Thanks Chris...Im still sifting through them

Don't over-think it. If you're opting out of tybee island and going anywhere else, then you've automatically upgraded...

I found one on Thistle just off Palmetto for 200.00 a night. Place looks really nice with good reviews..Gonna have to come up with decent places to fish though seeing as thats one of the main reasons we're taking the other two couples with us.

Go to George & Pinks (vegetable stand place)
The Old Office (used to be the best restaraunt)
Crabbin in the marsh during low tide is fun & I'll try to find a map of the best spot

I can't help you there.
But www dot charlestonfishing dot com has an Edisto section you can poke around on and use the search function, lots of info. Similar to GON.
Whatever you do, don't say a guy named "deeprig" sent you, or you'll be banned instantly.

Jekyll is awesome for what it seems you are looking for....its laid back with hardly any spring breakers and tons of fishing spots where you can do almost everything that is mentioned about tybee....personally, I hate tybee...but I live on the coast so im spoiled...

While on the topic of Edisto, I'm going there in late May for a wedding, our "group" will be about 20 people. We already have houses rented but that's about it. I realize the day before and day of will be devoted to wedding stuff, but for our down time..any suggestions on places to go and things to do there?

Not a fricking thing to do except Golf. Charleston is 45 mins away.
