Florida----#12 in attendance in the nation
Missouri----Yankee state, so they don't care
South Carolina---#4 in attendance
Vanderbilt----Even nerds go to games #21
Kentucky-----#36, not bball so fans don't GAF
Georgia------#33
Tennessee----#35

LSU-----#1
ole MIss--#5
MSU-----#2
Arky----#3
Auburn---#11
Bama-----#14
TAMU-----#9

All the other schools in the SEC either do REALLY well in attendance or they have a reason they don't do well. (bad weather/yankees for Mizzou and UK) Even Vanderbilt is somewhat respectable despite their size and demographic.

Why on earth are UGA and Vol fans so darn apathetic to baseball when the rest of the SEC is not?

Also, how on earth can UGA suck so bad at baseball when they're in the freaking state of GA and their players can pay in-state tuition or use HOPE which frees up scholarships to go nation-wide recruiting.

Vols also have a decent amount of talent in TN and are geographically located well for baseball talent. Why are they struggling so bad?

It seems like these two teams are MAJORLY underachieving. which one is a sleeping giant? If either wakes up, will the fans even ever give a frick?

Alabama's will suffer this season but should have a pretty meteoric rise in the coming years with the new stadium (probably the Top 10, not LSU/Arky territory).

It's hard to explain how big a dump Sewell-Thomas was.

Tennessee had a horrible coach. We're now getting much better. Our attendance will get better as the team gets better.

Perno blew. The best players in the state started going to KSU because their team was a lot more fun and I think players liked the coach more. After the one season we won like 16 games attendance started sucking.

True. But even when you guys had a decent team under Delmonico (01, 05, 94-95) you guys were always at the bottom in attendance.

Is it the stadium? You're in a capital city, so it technically should be easier than people who make it out to a game in Oxford or Starkville.

This is true, but what about 2007 when your attendance was still ranked close to 33? you were 34th.

UT was too focused on football and bball during these times to have enough left over to care about baseball

If Serrano can build a winner (he's doing great so far IMO), will the fans show up? If he is able to win big a la South Carolina/Vandy/Ole Miss/LSU will the fans' attendance get up to about 5000?

I think so. Winning puts butts in the seats, and couple that with the fact that Tennessee fans are desperate to see some success in their athletics programs due to the recent...underperformances

The honest answer is that TN is a football 1st state and a very strong basketball state second.

The state of TN isn't known for caring much at all for baseball.

except all of Vandy's players are from fricking Massachusetts or some other state.

Vandy is a fricking cheater in baseball IMO. They give need-based aid and it makes it damn near where they get their pick of the litter nation-wide. It's like UK basketball. It's kind of hard to frick that up.

Easy tiger.

Besides Vanderbilt's big success, Cumberland has won the NAIA world series 3 times since 2004. Tenn Tech and Belmont have solid programs. Not to mention multiple little league world series trips by teams from Mid TN. Plenty of good baseball in Mid TN.

Nice try. They give need-based aid to every student that attends Vandy. Any school could do the same if they did it equally like Vandy does.
