It'd take willingness on the part of the AD and the University to eliminate parking spaces for it.

They could put a parking deck roof thing on that lot and then put stands on top of that roof instead of more parking. That seems feasible to me at least.

Auburn---#11 (Enrollment - 25,078)
Bama-----#14 (Enrollment - 36,155)

If you look at attendance, relative to enrollment then Ole Miss and Vandy are crazy high). It shows that baseball is (with the exception of South Carolina) much bigger in the SECw than in the SECe.

As others have mentioned, coaching was a big issue but also a total lack of promotion. Both have gotten tons better (I had a friend on the team years ago yet never knew when the games were). To compound the matter, UT didn't establish their fanbase or even try until AFTER the Tennessee Smokies were already embedded in the community. People love watching Smokies' games and they've got a great stadium experience + beer so if you're gonna watch a baseball game that your kid isn't in they're the first choice for baseball fans.

Oh and I disagree about E. TN not caring about baseball (although it's true we don't care about collegebaseball). It certainly does - we had more baseball fields than you could shake a stick at in my hometown (so many, in fact, that my cousin wanted to move there when he was a kid because of the bball fields). And that same town has won the little league world series. Softball is big too.

Between the lack of marketing (for many years even if you were a student, you barely knew we even had a baseball team if you thought about it at all), coaching for many years, and not working to cultivate a fanbase until now that there's competition from the Smokies, it's an upward climb for UT baseball.

It's odd but softball has a better following in a lot of ways because we used to have two ADs (one for the women and one for the men) and the women's AD did a much better job promoting them and taking care of them.

I should have gone to school to be an architect. I'd actually make money instead of sitting on here, talking to all of you

You can look at the google earth view & see there's not a hella lot we can do...

The area with all the trees behind the 1st base line & along the right field outfield fence is private property with residences....

And it should stay that way. Honestly, I love the location of Foley. I love when we host Super Regionals and the houses blast walk-up music before at-bats and nobody can tell them to stop because they're privately owned houses. Foley has a very unique feel. It just needs to be bulked up a bit where possible.

It's like saying expand Sanford Stadium... Where? The stadium overhangs Field St., E. Campus & Reed Hall now. The bridge & Sanford Dr. is a no go. Might be able to get 3-4,000 extra.... 92,746 is optimum...

Sanford needs a beautification run before we even think about expansion. So much opportunity to fix up the concourses, concessions, and facade. Honestly, it deserves to have it done sooner rather than later.

Auburn has seating stretching the length of LF. Something like this would be acceptable for UGA IMO

I've always wondered this myself. There is good HS baseball player in this part of the state and it seems decently popular, just on a much smaller scale than football and basketball.

Others have said fans will show up when UT starts winning, but I don't think that's the case; at least not to the extent of the others in the conference. Personally, baseball is my second favorite sport to watch live. I plan on making it to as many baseball games as I can this year.
