But getting players that fit a coaches scheme and player development matter a lot.

There's really no denying this. 17-0, 30-0, etc stand as proof.

Especially given his svelte appearance of late.

Missouri went 11-3 and won the east with a team made up mostly of 3 stars

Your argument is invalid

And then lost to a team full of 5-stars by 30 points in the SEC Title game. The one that has won 3 SECT, 3 Natl Titles and 90% of their games the last 7 years.

Which one has mostly 3 stars?

I'll hang up and listen.

Then why are the teams you see year in and year out in the top 10, have top 10 classes every February? Coincidence?

won't matter, once they've drank enough koolaid to convince themselves "stars don't matter", they aren't coming back.

Stars do matter to a certain extent. Ole Miss wouldn't be winning as much as we are had we not recruited like we have been the last several years. But I do agree. If you get a three star kid that fits your system, take him over a talented five star that you'd have to make adjust to your system.

There are a few teams that do an incredible job of taking underrated talent and developing them into a group that consistently wins a lot of games : TCU, Kansas State, Missouri, Michigan State, Wisconsin........but those teams almost never win titles. And, 80% of the top 10 teams are also top 15 in recruiting. Anyone arguing otherwise is blind.

I beg to differ, I bet you could fit 3 or 4 lineman into in pants.

We won...........why would I make an excuse?

We win 90% of our games, win titles and place tons of kids in the NFL. That's because we sign great athletes.

Agreed. I think most rating sites would have concerns about a 500 lb. OLs mobility, but it fits right in at Arky.

I have never been convinced stars matter at the end of the day. What does matter is player development once getting on campus. Stars measure intangibles and players potential, that is it. No way to gauge motivation or heart. You give me a guy like Jacob Hester all day long

How many BCS Championships have been won by teams that that did not average Top 10 recruiting classes over an extended period of time?

Zero
