Statistical analysis of star averages shows an extrememly direct correlation between wins and championships and recruiting rankings.
Does that mean all teams with Top 15 recruits will be good? No. Does that mean all teams with 40-50 rank recruit will go 6-6? No. Like anything, not everything goes back to the average. There are outliers.
However, there is a pretty clear correlation between winning and recruiting rankings. Just is what it is. If you sign more 4 and 5 star players your chances to win more games is much higher.

There isn't a single 5* recruit starting in the Super Bowl. Fun fact of the day.

Pretty wild.

Its just pure coincidence that the teams that get the higher rated players tend to do better

To those who possess few stars.

Actually Oregon hitting a talent wall proves stars matter more than ever.

Not surprising given how few five star recruits there are every year and you said "starting". I haven't looked through the rosters but I know Garret Gilbert is on the Pats roster and he was 5*

There are a few teams that do an incredible job of taking underrated talent and developing them into a group that consistently wins a lot of games : TCU, Kansas State, Missouri,....
you could add Oki St to that list of good average talent schools, both Snyder and Gundy are good coaches that can get it done with gameday planning as well, and Pinkel has the whip marks on his butt to prove it.
If you want to look at Mizzou, we have had the 4-5 star players on every team that's done anything noteworthy, since the SEC it was DGB, Franklin, Ealy, Hunt, Boehm and Richardson of course. In the b12, guys like Gabbert and Maclin were difference makers. Mizzou has had and needed star talent to win anything of note, it's not really even debatable.
You're right, of course, about the "lack of titles", and anybody who thinks Mizzou would have sniffed a div. title win in the 12south or the SECwest is delusional. We have exactly 1 win over a plus .500 team in the SEC, in three years, and if you think that's an SEC anomaly, sorry to break it to you, the "star teams" of the b12 like OU and Texas simply owned us, finishing the 12 as a .500 school was a mark of accomplishment, but that's all.

I have never been convinced stars matter at the end of the day. What does matter is player development once getting on campus. Stars measure intangibles and players potential, that is it. No way to gauge motivation or heart. You give me a guy like Jacob Hester all day long
'Intangibles' doesn't mean what you think it means.

It means exactly what I think it means! Why don't you tell me what you think it means? I love how newbie posters jump in without having a clue
Here is an article to help the newbie

To be fair, your use of intangibles in your original post did not make sense. Your post would have made sense if you replace "intangibles" with "tangibles."

You say that stars measure intangibles. Motivation and heart are intangibles which you say there is no way to gauge. Thus, stars measure tangibles. I'm guessing it was a typo of sorts.

Seattles starting right tackle is a 2-star from Mizzou.
but the kid you listed had offers from:
LSU, Miami(FL),Oklahoma
Oregon, Texas and ND...
never heard of a 2 star w/ that offer list, sounds like a true fail job from the ranking service.

Dear Jesus you can lead them to water.
When talking Motivation and heart, it wasn't referring to what you think it did! Off the field things are not measured and there is no way to do it!

You used the wrong word. That's ok. Read it over and over and you'll eventually see that.

No, I even posted an article that explains what intangibles I am talking about! All recruiting services try to gauge athletic intangibles to some degree. What they do not gauge or take into consideration is off the field intangibles, which is what I was referring to by motivation and heart.
I have filled out enough recruiting data sheets to know what is measured and what isn't. I probably could have explained the motivation and heart thing better but chose not to.
