Both AU and TAMU have offenses who are usually capable of putting up enough points to win just about every game we play. However, our defenses suck. Given the new hires, potential following recruits, and existing players, who makes the biggest splash?

I really think if these two guys make the changes both programs hired them to make, these two teams will be 1 and 2 in the SEC West next year.

Muschamp. I just think he has more to work with at Auburn than Chavis has at A&M.

Muschamp has more talent on hand IMO. Muschamp will also be better for AU recruiting than Chavis is for A&M recruiting. Both will have a huge impact, obv.

Chavis cause he's bigger. Now if you dropped Champy from 20ft and Chief from 15ft maybe it's the same, idk though I'm not all sciency.

Muschamp, he's at much better program and has better players to work with.

I feel like Muschamp is the safe answer for more immediate success. You guys don't have the talent at DB for Chavis' ideal defense. His defenses have a tendency to get carved up when corners can't lock down their receivers (see LSU vs UGA 2013). 3 years from now? Flip a coin.

I think short term, definitely Muschamp. Long term, Chavis will probably retire there so he will pay dividends for a much longer time.

With an inferior coach on D, we shut Arkansas out the second half --- I hope we replicate it.

In the short term and long term A&M has owned Auburn.

Don't expect that to change.

In the win column I think Muschamp's impact looks bigger. AU still needs help in the secondary and maybe improved pass rush will help that. I think TAMU makes a bigger jump from their total D numbers in 2014 to 2015, but that's partly b/c they've got the better opportunity for a jump.

yeah, people keep repeating this. but I don't think it's actually true. comparing the depth chart, and assuming our true freshmen who played this year progress like they should, I think our talent is better, or at least a push.

Chavis runs a very basic scheme that relies on having his players execute. At LSU, it was very successful because he had NFL talent every single year. It's going to be less impressive at aTm for the first couple of years, or until aTm starts bringing in some talent on D.

Please keep your obsession to Gus and steer clear of your ignorant observations about our players.

true... but I can't believe he wouldn't be able to modify his system until that happens. Hell, his contract is only three years, so he's got to produce results quickly.

I think you are going to have trouble early. You are going to need to get the players Chavis needs to run the defense.

You don't have the corners to go man, and that is when Chavis is at his best. Alternatively when he has to go zone he is at his worst.

eventually with good recruiting you will get better, but Top will always be an issue. The defense looked best when we had TOP margins over 10 minutes.

Miles Garrett should thrive though.
