Yes, the 2004 Auburn team is the greatest ever. 13-0. Bammer 2011 shouldn't even be discussed because they lost and didn't play in the SEC Championship game lol, scam tide scam.

No, they weren't #3. AU and UT were ranked 8 and 9 when they played and Tenn never came close to getting that high again. The highest ranked team AU beat that year was an outrageously overrated UGA team who was somehow ranked #5.

ETA: Georgia looked like a top 10 team exactly once in 2004 and that was the demolition of LSU. Besides that, they struggled against a bunch of shite teams, inexplicably lost to Tennessee at home and got blown out by AU.

Leinart, Bush and White takes a backseat to no backfield I have ever seen in college football. They also had Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith at WR, who were infinitely better than any WR Auburn had. They had big game experience, a wonderful defensive mind as a HC, and when fully motivated, those USC teams were damn near unbeatable. The 2004 USC team was significantly better than the 2003 USC team that put a monster arse beating on Auburn to open the season in Jordan-Hare.

Wrong again. Creations of the media hype. They couldn't hang talent wise at the highest level. The Auburn WR did.

Keep accepting the perception and ignoring facts.

The 2003 team isn't a reasonable variable because Auburn ran a completely different offense in 2004. Almost 40 spots different than 2003 and Auburn also had a better defense.

You've got to love an AU fan accusing someone else of cheating when they were banned from playing on tv back in the 90s.

Usc beat #2 Oklahoma and gave cal their only regular season loss

So we can agree USC exposed a team that would have lost 3 or 4 games with Auburn's schedule never deserving of the #2 ranking.

They may have still been unbeaten with USC schedule though. But they weren't nearly as physically talented as the USC team.

So only auburn improved from that 23-0 beat down at home to usc? You mean usc didn't improve at all from the first game of 03, in which leinart made his first college start and bush/white didn't play, to the bcs title game of 04 when they were all seasoned veterans?

We all know VY found something later that year in the Rose Bowl and lost it before he played in the NFL. VY is comparable to USC players in that his lack of talent was overshadowed by the majestic story created around him.

I never made such a literal claim. I just suggested 2003 had no bearing on 2004 anyone watching could tell. USC 2004 was a great team just not best that year.

2 totally different seasons. No way to logically say 04 USC was better than 04 auburn. Different year, some new players, and some more experienced players.

Auburn fans should stop acting like they were the only improved team that year.

Or, you know, it might be entirely possible that I watched both teams and formed my own opinion. My opinion is that while USC was inconsistent and did play down to inferior teams sometimes, their A game was better than anyone else's that year, and no one did big games better than Pete Carroll's USC teams (except for Vince Young).

Also it's easy to forget that the SEC in 2004 was pretty good, but nowhere near what it has been over the last 7-8 years. The Pac 10 had two deserving BCS teams (USC, Cal) while the SEC had only one (Auburn).
