i agree that nebraska 95 is the goat of all time and its indisputable. I partially agree with your assessment of 01 miami. they did struggle in a few games, however, the talk of their potential GOAT status didnt start when all their players were successful in the nfl years later, it started when they beat syracuse and washington in back to back weeks by like 120-14.

Miami 01's major flaw was coaching. Coker was garbage. Alabama 11 would match up a lot better against other all time teams because of Saban; LSU not so much because their qb play was downright awful and Les Miles gameplan in the bcs title game was just disgraceful.

However, at the end of the day, Miami 01 is easily the most talented team of all time, they sported a defense on par with 08 usc and the 2011 lsu and alabama teams. Offensively, they were much better than either LSU or alabama and its really not close. They had one of the top 3 offensive lines I've ever seen, nfl talent at every skill position, and Dorsey was a heisman runner up.

to be fair, i think saban really excels at recruiting and building a program(he is without a doubt the master), as a big game coach, he isn't the best(pete carroll is). In the other thread someone posted his record against top 10 teams and he is slightly above .500. when the talent level is equal, saban has his issues. Saban doesn't lose to unranked teams(like pete carroll) which shows he keeps his teams motivated and focused no matter who the opponent is. In a mythical matchup of 01 miami and 11 alabama, alabama definitely has the coaching edge, defensively the talent is equal, but there is no comparison offensively, and thats why miami would win. Alabama is still a team that managed one touchdown in 8+ quarters against LSU, the miami 01 defense was just as good as LSU's.
