With one weekend of games left to go, the Heisman race (which has been quiet for most of the year) is coming to a close. The race is seemingly down to three players, led by Marcus Mariota. Melvin Gordon and Amari Cooper are trying to close the gap.

A QB, a RB, and a WR.

Now, others could make a push, but as things stand now, those three are at the top.

For Amari Cooper to win, he'll need Championship Saturday to go a lot like it did in 09 when Ingram won it with his final performance while other contenders struggled.

If Mariota struggles (and especially if his struggles cost Oregon the game) he'll lose, plain and simple. He's had a great year, but what you do in the last game matters to Heisman voters.

Beyond that, Gordon struggling would also be a big boost for Cooper. Though it isn't as big of a deal. If Gordon has a usual Gordon game, Coop can still win if he has a big game AND Bama wins and secures a spot in the inaugural CFB playoffs.

Above all else though, Cooper has to have a good game to win it. 150 yards and maybe 2 TDs I'm guessing.

Of course the Heisman is mostly irrelevant right now, the main goal is the SEC Title, and then so much more.

Honestly, it would take both Mariota and Gordon being involved in some sort of scandal resulting in their respective schools actually suspending them. (See FSU not suspending Winston last year). Mariota more-so than Gordon.

Cooper should go to NYC, though.

I think if Oregon loses and Cooper goes 200+ on Mizzou, then he wins the Heisman.

Yeah, he'll go.

For him to win, I think the other two would need to have awful games, with Cooper putting up 200+ and 3 or more TDs.

If Oregon and Wisconsin lose this weekend, and Alabama wins while Cooper puts up big yards, look for Amari Cooper to win the 2014 Heisman Trophy.

Yeah, Cooper's going to New York. He's not going to win the Heisman but its not impossible for him to end up with the trophy.

unfortunately its really unlikely he wins whatever happens. heisman is pretty much a qb/rb only award only now. Cooper would have had to have also returned kicks/punts all year to have a real chance. Most of the credit for a receivers yards is perceived to go to the QB. its a shame, because cooper is without a doubt the best player in college football in my mind.

Desmond Howard was the last WR to win the award and he also returned kicks and punts. That award was given to him in 1991.

Mariota and Gordon would have to lose this weekend. Cooper would have to put up at least as good of a performance as this past weekend.

Highly doubtful. He will get an invite and might finish second, if he is lucky.

There should really only be 3 players invited this year.

There is a decent chance Gordon doesn't even play on Saturday. If Corey Clement puts 150+ with a td or 2 it will automatically discount Gordon's value. If Clement is terrible it might win the award for Gordon though.

I think Arizona wins, it's hard to beat the same team twice, but being the underdog both times is a nice motivation tool.

I doubt Cooper win s it but he will put up big numbers. Teams that have success against Mizzou(excluding UGA) did so with the pass. USC, IU, and aTm are passed for over 200yds on them and they struggled to beat 2 of them and lost to the third. Amari has a chance for 200+ and 3TDs or more this coming weekend.

This. Coop doesn't really even have a legitimate shot at finishing in the top two.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't think there's a chance, but I think he will get an invite to NY...

Should be a cinch for the Biletnikoff trophy, and that would be a first for a Bama WR...

He needs to have a career game against Missouri, at least around IB levels. It's pretty much that simple. After his injuries left him struggling a bit toward the end of the season, he's probably solidly in 3rd place right now. It's not disrespect, it's just an unfortunate blip in his consistency through no fault of his own. The voters aren't like CFB playoff committee. They're not going to weigh every little factor.

Yeah I'd be happy with Biletnikoff, unanimous AA, SEC offensive POY, and Heisman finalist

Cooper would have to have another 200+ yard game and throw a TD pass to Blake Sims on a reverse pass.

Not gonna happen.

Oregon's plane crashes.

shite, then Mariota would just win it posthumously.

This is Mariota's trophy. Nobody else stands a chance of taking it from him.

Unless he has 200 yards receiving AND that "Heisman moment " play, such as a diving one handed catch staying on his feet and racing for the touchdown to lead the team to a comeback victory, I see 0% chance of his winning.
Surprisingly, I'd be willing to bet he's on more voter's ballets than any other, just not for first place.
