2 Kinds of Bama Fans on this Board - I genuinely appreciate one kind. Thanks.

I have gained respect for a whole group of Bama fans here that continually call out their fellow Bama fans who make one horrible thread after another rubbing LSU's face in our miserable season as though we have not been a worthy opponent over the past decade or so. Seriously. Thank you. I see what you are doing and I appreciate it and it has caused me to gain respect for Bama fans in general. No kidding.
The other group that is just writing post after terrible post trying to flame and diminish LSU, you are acting in a way that I have expected from Bama fans - so I am not surprised. But, I have learned through those trying to get you to shut up that your behavior probably just represents the vocal, idiot minority of Bama fans. I live in Alabama and the more that I think about it, the more that I realize that the majority of Bama fans are pretty decent people. But, the bad Bama fans are so obnoxious and so much more so than every other fanbase in America, that is has affected my opinion of the whole.

All of this leads me to say that I have decided to no longer flame or attack Alabama in any way until LSU can once again pull out of the Decline and field a competitive football team that actually beats Alabama. It will happen again one day. But, with 4 straight losses, until it does, I really don't have the authority to talk smack to Alabama. So, that is my pledge.

I don't know whether I feel like I should change my approach to making threads because LSU is a respectable opponent or if I should lol because such threads add to your level of melt enough to warrant response threads.

I don't take it that seriously, but over time, I do think that a person's basic personality comes through. There are Alabama fans that are pretty decent people - good people with a brain in their heads and you can see it in the way they interact here.
There are others who fit the stereotype of the Gump and demonstrate why Alabama is so hated by everyone else. It isn't the winning. It is the attitude.
But, the more that I think about it, the more that I realize that the vast majority of Bama fans belong to the first group and not the second. So, I am choosing to judge them according to their betters and not the Wal-Mart fans whose whole identity rests NOT on how well their team does, but in how they can stick it to their opponent.
Some Bama fans care more about seeing their opponents lose than they do in seeing their own team win. That is the difference.

Sure, but they are "in your face" in a pretty dramatic way if you happen to pull for another team and live in this state. If I am "preoccupied" with them, it is because I am an LSU fan living in Alabama. That has an effect in perception.

They don't bother me. Like I said, I expect it. But, I keep noticing that in every "insanely retarded" post, half the comments are from Bama fans belonging to the first group calling the OP out for being stupid. That got me thinking and I realized that A LOT of Bama fans are like that. They just get drowned out by all of the stupid.
THEIR actions here had me rethinking my approach to the fanbase. All of this started with Saban's arrival, actually. Before that, I had a lot of respect for Bama and their fans. I guess that being an LSU fan in Alabama I heard regularly comments like "We got your coach" and "LSU is going to fall apart now" and stuff like that. Well, now that LSU has fallen apart, I guess that the tension has subsided and I can see that those comments were coming from those from the second group of Bama fans.
