Time to go hire him as our next d coord

Not gonna happen, he's gonna sit on his arse and collect the $4 million dollar buyout while he waits for another head gig at a lesser program.

We could pay him 1 million and he would still collect 3 million from Florida.

Support!
His cranky arse would be a perfect fit.

I'm trying to get info on how Sumlin himself feels but there's definitely going to be a push by major boosters on this front. Let's just say money won't be an issue if Sumlin decides to go in that direction

I could see Boom having interest from lower tier P5 schools for head openings. Everyone who speculates assumes he will go back to being a DC but I think he would be a good fit for a job like UVA

Just can't see it. I'd see muschamp taking the dc job at s. Carolina before a&m, but I think he'll just sit out a season from coaching and maybe do some tv.
All that said, I'd love to have him use us as a stepping stone job. Because one thing would be certain, the first decent job offer he received his arse would be gone in a flash.

It would be huge recruiting wise and leave the defense in a much better place even if it was only for two-three years.

The reason he isn't being speculated for such jobs is it rarely if ever happens. No one wants to hire someone on the heels of being fired. It's bad PR
I honestly can't think of anyone that was fired by a major and hired by anyone the same year. They almost always sit out (I thought RichRod but turns out he sat a year). Bara is right he may choose to sit. We'll see. A week ago, I didn't much believe the speculation but this morning changed that.

woah....
I get that he coached at a rival school, but Will is genuinely one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet

um, Kiffin took a coordinator position or are you talking about him being fired by an NFL team?

Fired by a major, then hired by someone.

even you can't be that literal

I think Zook was hired at Illinois right after he was fired from UF. Nutt went to OM also from Arkansas. Only ones I can think of off the top of my head. But yeah, I guess you're right in that it doesn't happen a lot.
