1986. Georgia 20, Auburn 16. I sort of understood turning the water on the fans on the field but then turning them on the crowd in the stands was insanity.

And the AU groundskeeper who made the decision to keep the UGA fans from destroying the field and the hedges was a Georgia grad and had been at Georgia the year before.

Stay the frick off our lawn.

This game was my first lesson in trashing talking about something you couldn't control. I ran my mouth to every Georgia fan in a 10 mile radius of me. The next 365 days was miserable.

I wore the "Can't Beat'em, Hose'em" shirt for the next 10 years to remind me. Unless I am playing and have some control…Keep my mouth shut.

Whenever UGA fans accuse Auburn and Auburn people of being classless I think about that night with them all destroying our field.

Well whomever made the decision to turn them on the crowd was an idiot even if he went to MIT or Harvard.

Was that the last high profile case of fans rushing an opposing teams field?

Wasn't the first time the state of Alabama has given people the hose.

That state is pretty good at hosing people they don't like.

I think not....my favorite is Texas Tech giving aTm the Bident. This is a glorious day. Something that would make even the most battle hardened soccer hooligan weep with joyful giddiness.

UGA and CFB was pretty insane back then. The fans/players were pushing the envelope on poor sportsmanship. UGA didn't retaliate the next year, in fact went out of their way in not doing so.

Aubrun's like having an ugly sister you cringe during pictures, but she's still family.

Better think of another analogy. Plenty of good looking women at Auburn.

Poor, abused UGA fans...I was in Athens in 2011. Your fanbase lost all moral high ground after that.

Before that really. We started having issues with UGA fans in Athens in 2006 or so. Has been better the last couple years, FWIW.

The 2006 game into the 2007 Blackout really fricked with Auburn's head

2011 was pretty bad, but I think a lot of that was pent up Cam/Nick rage along with the anger a lot of UGA people felt seeing Auburn win the championship the year before. It really is like a sibling rivalry.

2011 and 2012 for real erased a lot of fairley hate from our end. I realize that 5 or 6 fans on a message board would say otherwise, but I mean after both of those curbstompings there was really no reason to get angry over it. Then 2013 ramped things up again.

Never had much issue with AU fans, in fact our tailgate for this game (home or away) is usually 50/50 UGA/AU.

Did have one country btch try to fight with my mom one year at AU but that was booze.

Given that 30% of the AU team is from Georgia and guessing 15% of the students, it remains our best rivalry IMO.
