One problem there though. The rookie contract is not a big one for most anymore under the new collective bargaining agreement. The second contract is the big one and you have to perform and have enough tread left on the tires to do well on the big money contracts (the one after the rookie contract).

The GM's that understand football do pretty well drafting Alabama players.

Team is built based on the fact that they are more talented than everyone else. They know that a control game is their best bet. Therefore:

- Draft their RB's and defensive front seven guys.
- WR's are WR's, if the talent is there then they are worth it.
- DB's aren't pressured enough to have the experience of those who are, in general don't go for them.
- OL can rely on having 5 very talented members. They don't do anything fancy and generally just have to run block well. Doesn't translate well to the NFL.
- Stay the hell away from QB's.

Common Gump attitude but when 1st round talent starts slipping to the 3rd and lower rounds I'm sure coaches will start discussing how much money a player cost himself by being a pack mule for Saban

Trent Richardson and Mark Barron were both traded before their Rookie contracts were up so all their college hype meant little in the NFL.

Also, ask Saints fans what they think of Mark Ingram
IDGAF what NFL fans think of those guys, I loved everyone of them while they were working their asses off at Bama. They had great production, were a huge part of the teams championships, and they stayed out of trouble while they were here. As a college football fan, what more could you ask for?

I remember when I originally brought this up about 3 years ago. I think the thread went about 25 pages with angry gumps saying no NFL teams or scouts actually think this.

Didn't watch the video. Did it give actual names of the "NFL execs" this time?

We've been hearing this kind of talk for years. Still, really good HS players with plenty of options keep coming to Alabama (at a higher rate than just about anybody) and Alabama keeps putting a lot of highly drafted players in the NFL (at a higher rate than just about anybody). People allegedly keep saying this, but when the rubber hits the road neither the players with NFL aspirations nor the NFL execs doing the drafting seem to be taking it to heart.

Maybe that will change. However, there are a lot of Alabama players doing really well in the NFL right now, so maybe that will trump the scuttlebutt from unnamed NFL exes. We will see.

It's all about "the system" with Saban. He has certain players that fit into it but can't adapt in other systems. Look at Joe Addai for instance. Saban had him at wide receiver and he was one of the best running backs in the NFL for several years.

Mark is turning into a very good NFL back. He was injured for much of his first three years, but for this season and the last part of last season he has been very good. I expect him to move on to a team next year that will get him the 20 carries a game he needs to be a very productive back. The key for him will be staying healthy long term. Saints fans are very happy with him at the moment.

Such awesome value for a 2012 1st rounder.

Ummm it's pretty common knowledge that Saban treats his players like slaves.
Yeah, you can tell by just looking at their athletic center.

You're a fricking idiot. There is more to wins and losses than just recruiting. It takes team chemistry, etc. I think 3 out 5 titles speaks to the quality of the recruiting, but no team regardless of raw talent will win a title every year, so stfu with that "should never lose a game" shite morons like yourself spew.

But how does that affect me as a Bama football fan?

I just really don't care much about the pro's ~ I want to see them put 100% on the field while they are under scholarship though.

Could be that I have a differnt opinion than other Bama fans on this subject?

Mark Ingram is currently loved by Saints fans.
Eddie Lacy is a beast
Dareus, Lacy and Jones made Pro Bowls.
CJ Mosely is likely Defensive ROY in 2014. Lacy already won Offensive ROY in 2013.
Ha Ha is doing fine as well. Was a back-up as he learned the defense, and has moved into the starting position and gets praise for bringing a physical presence to GB's defense.

The main beef seems to be with corners.

Dude was a beast at Bama and has continued on that path. Glad to see him do well.
