Exactly. Chubb is one of the best backs in the league and has proven that. It's not like we're putting a make a wish kid out there to take a symbolic snap.

Put him out there for a play so he gets the start then bring in Todd. Chances are the first play is gonna be a play action pass trying to catch the gators with their pants down anyway.

I respect that line of thinking too.

either way..........all that has happened these past two weeks is going to pay off huge for Georgia in the coming weeks and years.

No doubt. As you like to say "Exciting Times"

Ok, this I understand. Best answer to the contrary I've seen.

Many fans would likely have no problem with Richt starting Gurley but Chubb himself has said that Gurley should be the starter and that he, Chubb, will have 3 years to earn the starting role after Gurley is gone. In that spirit, if I were Richt, I would honor Chubb's wishes and start Gurley but bring in Chubb to relieve him early and often. Frankly I think the running game would be more effective with frequent relief of Gurley because he seems to get tired more easily than does Chubb.

what is Chubb supposed to say? "I've been doing this shite myself, I deserve to start".

It's ONE PLAY. Not en entire quarter.

That's kind of pointless since chubb has played so well. Also, "Gurley has a better chance of taking it 75 yards than Chubb", sounds pretty childish.

And what are the chances either of them takes it to the house on the first play?

75 yard runs are pretty rare, regardless of who the RB is. Plus, UF's defense is pretty damn good.

Yes they are. I hope our fans don't think we are going to just run all over them just be cause Florida is down lately. Most of Florida's problem is on offense, not defense.

We should start Chubb.

I know Florida sucks but this isn't Troy. This is a team that has the talent and will do everything they can to beat us. We need to play our best team from the first snap until it's out of hand. I'm glad Chubb has been great but Gurley should start and slash through that defense the first drive. No need to get cute until the game is out of hand.

I think Chubb should get the first play. It will be a big boost for the players and the fans. You have to remember this is a mental game, too. You can't tell me the OL wouldn't be fired up to see Chubb in there for the first play and want to open up a hole for him the size of a Mac Truck. It'll show appreciation to what Chubb has done for us. Chubb breaks 2 tackles and runs for a first down. Then you trot on TG3 to a standing ovation with a nice slap of hands/passing the torch from Chubb to Gurley. Gurley takes the hand-off and goes 68 yards to the house.

Or we can put Chubb at QB and hand it to Gurley. Either way.

If that happened, Georgia could always do what we did with Marlin Lane and Jalen Hurd at the begging of the season. We named Marlin Lane starter and TBH with his senior leadership, grit, and the abuse he's taken he earned that much but it was only in name - even on his best days he split reps with Hurd. Now Hurd is our starter.

Obviously, Georgia has two (healthy) great RBs in Chubb and Gurley and Chubb has carried the load while Gurley has been out and done so like a champ. And if Gurley stays out Chubb will continue to do that.

It's interesting that they appear to have developed 2 very different identities. Chubb is an all purpose/every down back and just runs right through people. Gurley runs over people too but it's his ability to make tacklers look like fools and amazing speed that really separates them (again this is just my point of view as an outsider). Gurley has that special something that Chubb doesn't yet have and may or may not develop - no knock against Chubb either as I wanted him badly as a recruit and think he's yet another beast at RB. However, beyond his athletic gifts, Gurley can't flat out will his team to victory whereas even other 'greats' often can't do that. I've seen him do it more than once and it was especially noteworthy when we played y'all.

And with Gurley, it doesn't even matter whether the rest of the team is inspired/effected by his will or not as he can do it all by himself. Simply an amazing player. Other players have similar talent but few, if any, current players have the same intangibles.

Gurley should and will get tthe first snap, mark my word.

Very few people are going to hold Gurley's actions against him. He has served his time, and I hold Chubb no higher than Gurley from a moral or ethical standpoint. Gurley has earned his time more than Chubb has imo, and Chubb has a long and bright future ahead of him to shine.

I would support both Gurley and Chubb in the wildcat on the first snap though. I think that would be symbolic to "we're in this together" and it also might make every gator out there shite their pants.

It's not a jab at Gurley, it's a nod of a great job to Chubb. They are both elite runningbacks but without Chubb these last two games, they would have been much closer. Chubb deserves some recognition, he's running with the big dawgs now.

That may be your intention, but it can very easily be interpreted as a slap in the face to Gurley. "Hey Gurley, we know you're eligible, but we're not giving you the first snap to send a message". Intentions don't matter, interpretation does.

Keeping a player out for a snap or a drive for poor behavior is a very established practice all around the NCAA. That poor behavior could be unsportsmanlike the play before, it could be in a bar the night before, or it could be on a test the week before. It's not a suspension but it's purposefully keeping a player off the field to send a message. The whole argument here is not just "we should give Chubb the first snap" but also "we should not give Gurley the first snap". It's the second part that won't go over well.

You also have to remember Gurley does get winded when taking a bunch of snaps. He hasn't played at game speed in 4 weeks. We need to utilize both of their strengths to wear down the queers defense

Of course I don't think he should take every snap, but I sure hope he won't be winded before the first play

He might be winded after he takes it 80 yards to the house though.

Yeah I was kinda moving onto a new idea. Gurley not being in top shape for the game. I'm expecting both those guys to give us all a chubb
