Let's say Gurley is reinstated for the Florida game like we all expect. Is Chubb rewarded for his performances the last 2 games and getting the first handoff in Jacksonville?

Personally, I think he should. He's earned it. Now I want Gurley getting 20-25 touches but I think it would be a class move by Richt to reward the Chubbdozer. Not really a slight to Gurley, just a nod to Chubb.

Sorry...I disagree on all levels. Chubb is great and has a bright future and has absolutely earned the 2nd string job for the year....but he is just not Gurley. I like the moral sentiment, but Gurley will and should get the nod just because this is his last year and is without a doubt the best RB of the Richt era, not to mention a possible Heisman run. While it really doesn't matter who starts as they will all get carries, I really just don't see it happening.

Chubb or Gurley

I think the opinions you seek lie within. Personally I think it would be cool to line them both up on the first play side by side. Mutual respect. The crowd goes wild. Then of course play the best player in college football today.

I agree wholeheartedly but I got hammered for saying this yesterday in the thread that Broncothor linked.

GH is not saying give Chubb the majority of carries, in fact he said the opposite in the OP.

Just the first carry of the game as a way of saying thank you. I bet Todd would be in favor of this, too.

Double Reverse: Gurley passes to Chubb for 50 yard TD run.........

Wipe tears from your eyes. Roll credits.

Gh you're better than this.

No, Chubb should not start. Play your best, period. Gurley is our best.

Gurley deserves to start any game he is available and prepared for. He is the best player in college football. He is a once-in-3-decades-player. He has fought, bled and helped carry this team for over two years.

He has paid the price for his mistake.

If God is good to us and allows him to play against Florida - and he has had the practice time and is ready - he should start, get most of the snaps, and make the gators pay dearly.

Chubb agrees wholeheartedly, by the way. It makes good football sense, and every other type of sense.

Gurley starts if he is available.

No I read it all. But every carry Chubb gets is one gurley doesn't. Let gurley wear em down then bring in Chubb. There's no need for little hat tip recognitions when you're trying to win a football game.

More likely to break off a 70 yarder on the first play, gurley or Chubb? Obviously gurley.

Not me. Not with the way our fullbacks have been harming the opposition. Heck, if we have three backs out there (and we often do), two of them should be fullbacks blocking for either Gurley or Chubb.

No need to get cute. Line up like we've been doing and continue to shove that ball down their frickin' throats.

It is only one carry...Chubb gets the first carry to a standing ovation from the UGA side...Then #3 runs on to the field and the crowd grows even more insane...shite would be awesome. Gurley will still get the bulk. I don't see the big deal. Gurley can take it to the house from 62 yards just as easily.

Dawgs receive. Kickoff goes for a touchback.

1st and 10 from the 20. Gurley lined up in the backfield. Crowd going insane. Gator defenders trembling with adrenaline, wanting to stuff the Gurley train on the first play to set the tone. To give their beleaguered fans some hope. Everyone in the building KNOWS we're running Gurley.

Mason turns to handoff, Gurley grabs it and runs to the right... but wait, it's a FAKE. Mason performs a David Greene worthy fake and uncorks a deep ball to a wide open JSW who is also making a comeback. 80 YD touchdown. Dawgs fans go crazy and Gators pull out their flasks, preparing for the misery that lies ahead.

exactly. five minutes into the game last year, gurley had already cockslapped the entire gators defense. no need to frick around with that.

It's not as preposterous as you make it sound. I'm just saying put him in for a play. What's the difference between Chubb being in there for a carry on the first drive vs the second? None. It's a tip of the cap to our workhorse the last two games. I didn't really think about it until Seth and Gentry brought it up on their podcast last night. I'm on board with it. It's not gonna cost us the game and would be a good move by Richt and like K9 said, I'm sure Gurley would support it as well.
