At what point do we need to reasses our confidence in Sumlin?

Not jumping off the cliff or anything, but consider where Hugh Freeze is at Ole Miss after three years compared to us. We were a reasonably talented team when Sumlin arrived, Ole Miss was literally one of the worst power conference teams out there and now the product is so starkly different it makes me wonder what exactly we aren't doing that we could be? How has Ole Miss become so dominant, especially on defense, while we have become seemingly soft and inept?

We are getting worse every single week, and the team appears to be in free fall. I just want to know at what point does Sumlin need to be called out for this?

I'd that fake FG might be the point which we start questioning him

Someone on the team has to step up as a vocal leader. It's obvious it's not Hill.

1. If Hill keeps starting, for one. He can't throw the ball more than 10 yards with any accuracy.

2. If he keeps Snyder after this season. You can use the "young defense" for one season. After that it's an excuse for poor coaching.

(Seriously, you know a team is going to run the ball from its own 1 yard line and you STILL can't stop it?)

3. If any of our top defensive recruits start looking around, or if any still on the fence decide not to bother to visit (cough--Malik).

I won't start melting on sumlin until he starts losing recruits, or he keeps Snyder and the defensive staff around.

We're going to miss on every single recruit at this game.

I give Sumlin one more year than freeze considering the lack of depth we have on defense.

I don't believe that for a second.

Difference is that it's clear that Freeze did something shady with that 2013 class considering where Tunsil and Treadwell are actually from.

We are clearly getting worse every year. $5 million a year is a joke.

Why were we giving their pass offense so much respect? When they were on the 1 and we were in a 3-3-5 I fricking lost all respect for snyder.

Hold Up. Back in August everyone acknowledged that this was a rebuilding year.

8 wins in regular season would be on par. Doesn't matter how, just get there.

7 wins disappointing.

9 wins exceeding expectations.

Honestly for me nothing that happens this season matters. Even before it started all I wanted out of it was "enough for a top 5 class on NSD."

We get some of those five stars left on the table to commit to us and I am happy.

Yeah, if USCe had been a midseason game, things would be going exactly as expected. Everyone is bitching because they're still hungover from last month's koolaid. We're still starting a bunch of underclassmen.

But in all honesty, the defense wasn't even the main problem. Its our offense. What's really concerning about it is that we have an offensive minded coach who can't field a team that can execute his system. That troublesome because usually when that starts to happen with coaches (who fail at their specialty), its the beginning of the end. I'm officially worried and the offseason staff changes will tell us more of what type of coach he is (hopefully not as stubborn has he has come across on some occasions). Spavital needs to be gone and Snyder needs to show improvement by the end of the year. No excuses.

Dude cheated. If he was an honest to God great recruiter, then why did his recruiting fall off after year 1?

In 2013, he got the;
#1 DE (From Georgia)
#1 WR (From Illinois)
#1 OL (From Florida)

Come on now. Not even Alabama can pull that shite off.

I'm the last to throw a coach under the bus, but I agree. Bring Phil Bennett home, which has the added benefit of giving Briles a stroke.

A lot of melting happened in this thread

This x 1000. Play calling was TERRIBLE. I'm not sure what game you were watching if you think otherwise. The defense actually played pretty damn well. If you told me going in that our defense holds them to 3 TDs, I'm betting a bundle on a W for the Ags.

That's pretty bold. I think Hill is limiting what we can call on offense. And I don't get why you think Sumlin is stubborn, he demoted McKinney after the regular season when it was obvious he wasn't working

This. Talk of getting rid of Sumlin or him being on some sort of hot seat is absolute insanity (and I don't think that's what Roger meant necessarily, just some of the responses). If we finish 6-6 or worse then maybe we can discuss that.
