What LSU needs

LSU doesn't need a coaching change. They need an offensive philosophy change. How well would Harris and their freshman running back be in a Malzahn type offense. Harris has a great arm and you have great receivers. There is a reason that Malzahn recruited Harris so hard. He would be a perfect quarterback for the read offense with the power running game like Malzahn deploys. College football is changing, change with it or you will be left behind.
Will Les do it?

I can't imagine the same OC for Joe Flacco drawing plays for these true dual - threat QBs right after Mett's exodus.

Miles doesn't adapt and that has been his downfall the last 2-3 years. Same vanilla offense and power run game. Stack the box like Aub/MSU did and you have a good shot to beat our arse.
Very disappointing but congrats on the win

I was referring to the head coach when I mentioned coaching change. He would have to bring in a new OC. I don't think Les will do it.

I thought Cam Cameron was supposed to be the magic answer to LSU's "O" woes?

How much has the offense changed with 3 different OCs

A power run game works just fine, as does this offensive philosophy, if you have a dominating OL and a QB that is accurate and decisive running play action, of which we have neither.
I do agree, though, that we should stop putting square pegs in round holes and let these spread QBs we have run the spread.

But you have not changed offensive scheme or philosophy. With the talent LSU gets they would be scary with an offense like Malzahn's.

It was all wishful thinking

Miles is like Houston Nutt and Mack Brown, it doesn't matter who is calling the plays, they get to call plays from the HC's play book with his approval of what plays can be called each week.

Exactly. All the OCs ran a different variation of offense. Now what is the constant? IMO LSUs offense has been almost the same year to year since Fisher was our OC.
Bama hired Kiffin this year and you see somewhat of a change in philosophy.

That or go get pro style QBs to run your pro style offense.
But the recrootin rankins might suffer.

harris has serious talent and the attitude and intangibles to boot. i hope he has a chance to develop and shine but its not happening if something doesn't change

Been saying this for awhile. Miles is a more successful Houston Nutt. Good recruiter but stubborn

I agree, he is talented and he would shine in a power spread scheme.

I don't understand what they are trying to do with the type of qb's they have. It's 95% run it between the tackles or chunk it deep.

He isn't any different than any other former coordinator who is now a HC who thinks they are a genius on either side of the ball.
Do you think Saban gives Smart complete control over the defense?
Miles' problem is the same as Mack Brown's in they will go out and get the highly regarded player even if he doesn't fit in to their scheme or has the ability to do well what he will be asked to do.
LSU doesn't have to run a gimmicky fad offense, they have an elite DC who isn't looking to be a HC and can attract elite talent to that side of the ball. The philosophy is fine, passing up lower rated guys perfect for your system for highly rated guys who isn't a good fit for your system is the problem.

The offensive scheme is terrible. We destroy a QBs confidence. Besides attempting quick, easy passes we just don't pass at all until we are down by 3 scores. I totally agree that we need a new offensive scheme but Miles won't do it. He's stubborn and insistent on running the power I while keeping the best RB on the bench.

That's my point. They better get back to a dominant lock down defense quickly if they are going to stick to the old ground and pound offense.

Whatever philosophy doesn't matter when the offensive line is playing the way they are
