I'm curious who the QB is going forward, like it would matter with the offensive philosophy. The defense is total trash. I understand we have youth but there is no excuse to be this bad with talent we have. we are doing a poor job evaluating players. Chavis seems so lost, there aren't any adjustments, I mean we can put a hs D on the field. I personally think this is the end of Les's glory days. He is a very good motivator, he brings in talent, but times have caught up to him. His philosophy just won't work anymore. You can run the ball as well but there is no wrinkles in this offense. Its plain vanilla, we are poorly coached at the line, we sit our best RB on the bench. I do not see anything changing until Les leaves, if we have this kind of season next season, I think LSU will have no choice but to get rid of Les. The TAF will make sure Alleva never hears the end of it

I am not a coach and I certainly don't make 4.3 million a year but it is as obvious as the nose on your face. Last night should have been a wake up call for Les. He has the talent and personnel to start making the change on offense. IMO LSU has fallen from where they were in the last 2-3 years. This could be the thing to counter that and get you back to competing with Bama and the other teams in the west for titles. You will always get the talent but if he chose to utilize it in this manner I believe that LSU would be winning championships again. For selfish reasons, I hope he doesn't change. An LSU team that ran the power spread would be scary.

This is so true.... That is why we are beginning to loose some of our great athletes to Ms. State, Auburn and ole Miss. Their coaches run the types of offense skilled athletes like to play in.

I know you might be afraid and I can't say I blame you, but have you read the Tiger Rant?

I disagree. They're bad on offense because their QBs are struggling. They would struggle in any O because they have no experience.

The spread isn't the only way to have an effective offense. When LSU had a QB last year, their offense was very effective.

Op- solid post
As a student it's sad to see the void of leadership and individualism on this team. They need to change the offense to better fit their personnel. Guys in this team need to step up and lead, they can't keep being scared to stand up for each other and fight.

I have no doubt Harris would be a Heisman finalist at Auburn. Not this year but in the next 2-3 easily

They should have recruited guys to fit in their offense.

Even if that guy was a "3 star" instead of a "4/5 star".

Not doing so says lets hope their natural talent makes it appear we have coaching ability.

No different than when Jordan Jefferson was the best option at QB for 3 years and couldn't be kicked off the team after kicking a defenseless war hero in the head because there was no one behind him who could play the position.

I agree. But their personnel and talent going forward(next year And the immediate future) fits a power spread better than the Power I. This year is a wash, in part because of some of the reasons that you mentioned, but next year isn't. Chavis I believe can fix the defense but heir talent would be greater utilized in a different offensive scheme.

Good post from the OP. I've been saying this on the Tiger Rant. Miles will not change. He's too old and too stubborn. He's won too much with his system and he does not yet understand that the game has changed.

I disagree. I like Harris' game as a passer moving forward and their freshmen backs in a traditional pro-style running scheme. They also have good young receivers.

Harris is a read option quarterback with passing skills. He has the ability to run the offense like N. Marshall but he will be a better passer. The power spread like Malzahn's can be a balanced offense. With those great young receivers and the read option LSU would be tough to beat. I believe that his numbers/production would be much greater in a Malzahn's style offense than their current scheme. I think that if they stay in that style he will be another wasted talent. I may be wrong. JMO.

Harris has a great arm and you have great receivers. There is a reason that Malzahn recruited Harris so hard. He would be a perfect quarterback for the read offense with the power running game like Malzahn deploys. College football is changing, change with it or you will be left behind.

Will Les do it?

You're right on the money.

We're not recruiting the type of players we need to run the desired scheme.

Yes, you're right, but you can't count on a true freshman QB who has always taken snaps out of the shotgun to step onto a college field and play out of the I, and do what Mett did last year.

I like to shite on LSU but in reality LSU will be fine. Their only real problem is player attrition and not having their QB position ducks in a row. that's one thing that I will give richt credit for more than ayone else.. you hardly ever see him throw a QB to the wolves like that, when a QB leaves he has another capable one in line to run the offense. he's never stuck in a position where he has to depend on a true freshman or hope a freshman can play, etc.

QB is the most important position on the field and lsu doesnt' have one. that's their problem. that's florida's problem as well.

With that said, I think les is kinda like Nick in the sense that they have somewhat called it in. I think he's getting lazy recruiting and basically jsut looking around louisiana, pointing at players with 4 star players and offering them at this point, scheme be damned.
