A Scenario that would cause us all to go down in Glorious Flames of Martyrdom

This is a somewhat likely scenario: Georgia goes to the SEC championship with 2 losses as an heavy underdog against an undefeated Alabama team. Georgia shocks everyone and wins. (Who knows?...Amari Cooper sprains his ankle early or something.)

The selection committee picks Alabama to go to the final four playoffs but snubs Georgia.

All of Georgia Bulldog Nation goes down in the glorious flames of martyrdom.

Can you imagine how pissed off we would be? We would actually get so much satisfaction from this because it would prove how much the national media disses Georgia. The outrage would be so rewarding.

I can easily see this happening.

It would definitely be outrageous, however, if Georgia were to beat Alabama and win the SECCG, there is absolutely no way we don't get selected for the playoffs. Depending on what the national landscape looked like at the time, this could be a potential scenario where the SEC gets two teams in.

In that scenario depending on the no. of losses for Alabama, it's quite possible no SEC team would make into the playoffs. Here's the deal. We have 5 major conferences: SEC, Pac12, Big 10+2, ACC and the Big 12-2. If any one of the doesn't have a team in the top 4 in the polls, then someone is going to be left out. And all things equal, the conference champions are going to get in which means the Big 12-2 will be left out since they don't have a conference championship. In other words, there is great potential for a shite-storm with a committee making the playoff selections.

Sure there is. 11- 2 UGA would get passed over by 11-1 or 12-0 FSU, 11-1 or 12-0 Baylor/Oklahoma winner, 11-1 or 12-0 Oregon/UCLA winner, and 11-1 Michigan St who's only loss came at Oregon. Also 11-1 ND who's only loss is at FSU would be selected over UGA.

None of this would be a result of media "hate" for UGA, but it would be rewarding any of the teams above for having better seasons. Michigan State would probably have to obliterate everyone on their schedule to get in, but remember, they won every B1G game (including champ game over OSU) by double digits last season.

"absolutely no way Georgia would get selected for the playoffs"

You forget the 2007 season.

All the cards fell in favor for a 2 loss Georgia team to get selected for the BCS national championship game. And they got screwed. A 2 loss LSU team that everyone knew Georgia could beat got selected.

Do not underestimate the ability of an national committee of crapheads to cheat Georgia.

LSU won the conference, we lost at home to a mediocre USCe team. We didn't get cheated....

You are a disgrace of a Georgia Bulldog fan.

I wish I could just shake you.

Georgia got cheated in 2007.

If you do not agree with that, go root for the yellow flies. frick you!

With the games left, it is very unlikely any 2 loss team could make it in, SEC or not. There is a strong likelihood of 1 or 2 undefeated teams and 3 or 4 strong 1 loss teams left at year end. The committee will play to politics, like all committees do.

Frankly, a 2 loss team shouldn't make it in imo.

It's Texas A&M v UGA. Alabama loses this weekend to Ole Miss.

If being a realist and understanding the big picture of college football makes me a disgrace, then yeah I guess I am.

If UGA lost two games and beat Alabama in the SECCG, the only way UGA should go the playoff is if the other teams also had two losses and UGA is ranked ahead of them. That would only be fair.

I wish there was a way to block a user on here. When they post, instead of reading their crap, it would just show a picture of a clown or something instead.

Alabama is going to blow Ole Miss out by more than 14 points.

Ole Miss is wildly overrated and will be lucky to win 6 or 7 games this year.

The SEC is the toughest conference in football. After this weekend we'll be ranked in the top 10. If we lose 1 more along the way, and beat a top 5 team from the west, there's no way we aren't finishing in the top 4.
